YOURSAY | ‘Splashing water on Selangor voters won’t win BN the state.’

Yoursay: The politics of water has come to a boil

Azmin hits back: Water woes 4 days, 1MDB 4 generations

Clever Voter: The politics of water has come to a boil, with senior ministers placing the blame on the state government, and even Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak in his role as BN head throwing his coalition dice into the hat.

It is obvious that BN saw this as an opportunity to demonstrate how it could have made a difference. Such shallow thinking including a poor comparison to 1MDB makes the public wonder how this individual got to become a prime minister.

Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali was right to highlight the grave implications of 1MDB compare to the four days of water cuts.

The BN government should be reminded that public services should be unconditional. It is appalling to witness the behaviour of these politicians who had hoped for voters to have second thought of the PKR-led state government. They are likely to be proven wrong.

Cyclonus: Selangor’s water issue affects people in Selangor. 1MDB affects all Malaysians, present and future.

Cogito Ergo Sum: The incumbent for Pekan must so inundated with questions from all over the world about 1MDB, he forgot his constituents are drowning in floodwater.

You cannot point to Selangor’s localised water problem – which is, at least in part, the fault of the federal government – and compare it to the scale of 1MDB’s damage to the entire nation and its future viability.

Vijay47: Since I am living in Petaling Jaya, I am one of those affected by the water cuts. But like most others, I take it in stride and chalk it up to another problem inherited from Najib and Umno.

My support for Azmin remains unstinted. These are inconveniences we have to bear while sorting out Umno’s rotten legacy.

On the other hand, it is painful to see the prime minister scavenging shamelessly trying to find something to use against Pakatan Harapan.

It reminds one of the occasion when Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was gloating over how Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng was in tears meeting him over the floods.

Zahid and Najib, truly a marriage made in hell.

Anonymous 2461031491365771: Why is the federal BN government siding with Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor (Syabas) and not with the state government?

Could it be that Syabas is causing water issues, similar to Enron’s energy manipulation in the US? Enron for profit and Syabas for political gain?

Anonymous #13114320: The government is broke because of 1MDB. It had to impose GST and cut subsidies. The ringgit is screwed when foreign investors pulled out.

How long has that affected all Malaysians? Longer than four days, I suspect.

Nes: Good job, Azmin. Finally, the dirtiest four-letter word known to Malaysians, 1MDB, is acknowledged.

Minister: Vote BN to solve S’gor water woes in a year

Well That’s Fantastic: Azmin said under the master agreement that was signed with all parties, the state will not decide on the purchase price of Syarikat Pengeluar Air Sungai Selangor (Splash) because payment would be made by the federal government’s Pengurusan Aset Air Bhd (PAAB).

According to Azmin, the state government never agreed to finance 40 percent of the total consideration because in the first exercise with Syabas, Puncak Niaga Holdings Bhd and Konsortium Abbas Sdn Bhd, Selangor handed over its water assets to PAAB in full.

Why is Putrajaya changing the formula now?

R Venugopal: The Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Maximus Ongkili is depriving the citizens or voters in Selangor of water.

You are using taxpayers’ money. You have an obligation to serve the taxpayer; if you are unable to serve, then quit.

Do not threaten the rakyat as they will ultimately remove you one day. Ongkili has forgotten his roots and is now nothing more than a lackey.

V George My: Indeed, Ongkili must respect the aspirations of Selangorians as we recognise the unique rights accorded in MA63 (Malaysia Agreement 1963) for Sabahans.

In such a spirit, Ongkili must place the private consultant’s report detailing the price of the assets of Splash on the table of the Dewan Rakyat to fulfil the legitimate aspirations of Selangorians because they are standing solidarity with Sabahans on claiming their legal rights.

Anonymous #26191220: How disconnected these BN ministers must be with legitimate rights and expectations of the people. This stick and carrot stupidity will cost them at least few thousand more votes from the fence sitters.

They have woken up. In fact, the whole world now knows who the real thieves are. You can control the local media, but not the foreign press.

Anonymous 112233: People of Selangor, don’t give any seats to BN for the coming general election.

From this article, it seems clear that the federal government has purposely sabotaged the water situation in Selangor.

They just don’t care how people suffer, as long they have the chance to win back the state. I would advise them to continue dreaming.

Hand Selangor back to BN? How can we entrust the same people who caused the problem in the first place?
