A picture released by the African Union-United Nations Information Support Team on August 6, 2011 shows a Somali Transitional Federal Government (TFG) soldier stands in front of Ugandan troops serving with the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) outside Mogadishu Stadium, the former headquarters of the Al Shabaab insurgent group in the north of the Somali capital. Somalia’s Islamist Shebab rebels pulled out of key positions in the war-torn and famine-struck capital today, with the country’s president proclaiming the city “fully liberated.” African Union-backed government troops have been battling Shebab rebels in Mogadishu to secure aid delivery routes for victims of the drought threatening some 12 million people in Somalia and other Horn of Africa countries.
