Evidence that fly in the face of RCI’s conclusion
What’s with the members of the royal commission of inquiry (RCI)? They can’t give a conclusive decision? Because “none of the witnesses were subjected to cross-examination”?
Then why was so much time wasted on this entire exercise? To come up with an inconclusive finding?
P Dev Anand Pillai: It is just a play of words; the decision doesn’t actually say that there was an exercise conducted by the authorities to increase the population of the state with illegal immigrants.
No matter what the decision, the people of Sabah will never go against its 20-point Agreement in the formation of Malaysia. The decision made by the state in 1963 has been its worst.
Sadly, it suffers from its aftermath to this day, 51 years later.
Fateh: It is an open secret that many, both Sabahans and those in the peninsula, know. The RCI used “probably” to conclude its findings, which is absurd.
We all know why the existence of Project IC, and we also know who the traitors to the country are.
I just wonder when the kampung folks will wake up to the ugly truth. Probably only when the suffering reach their doorsteps, which may not be long.
Rupert16: So many illegal immigrants and over so many years – and the government does know about it? No right-minded people will believe this.
At the very least, the minister in charge then and his staff should be hauled in for gross incompetency. This is not even mentioned in the report.
The bottom line is the report is a whitewash and a farce, and is used to clear the government and the prominent politicians involved instead of seeking the truth.
Sali Tambap: With so much time and money used, this commission was a wasted exercise.
It did not have the will to leave all stones unturned in its investigation, and seemed afraid that certain top political figures, some of whom are still alive, might be implicated and exposed.
Thus it leaves much frustration to the rakyat who want justice done and the wrong corrected.
One wonders whether it serves any purpose at all instead of mere lip-service to temper the clamour of the rakyat who want the issue investigated.
Odin: The fact that the need to determine who the mastermind was has been omitted from the commission’s terms of reference is self-explanatory.
‘Royal’ confusion as RCI becomes CI
Peacemaker: This is the stand of our truth-seeking mechanisms at the highest level. Malaysians cannot hope for a future where truth is the measuring rod of the day.
The RCI findings and conclusions fly in the face of what every ordinary Sabahan knows. The lawyers will call the report a perverse finding of fact which ought to be set aside because the evidence contradicts the conclusion.
If the BN government can lie on this one, then there’s nothing that they won’t lie about.
Pputeh: Quote: “The royal commission of inquiry (RCI) report on illegal immigrants in Sabah has concluded that the controversial ‘Project IC’ probably existed in the state.”
What probably existed? It happened. Real people as many as 69,000 people got ICs. It’s not probably.
For the particulars of these 69,000 to be entered into the database of the NRD (National Registration Department) office and no one smelling a rat is very, very strange.
Factnot Fiction: They are still enquiring because they are not sure if the report is fact or fiction. May be another in-depth inquiry is need to be carried out.
It is shameful. After all, the inquiry was led by well-qualified people.
Fair&Just: It is an affront to common humane and godly principles that the real treacherous perpetrators are not punished. Only God can punish them now.
Odin: In my very humble opinion, the using of ‘enquiry’ here is not a catastrophic matter. In British English, we use ‘enquiry’ when we refer to a formal process to find out the cause of something or to find out information about something, while in American English, we use ‘inquiry’.
However, careful writers would use ‘enquire’ to mean ‘to ask for information, and ‘inquire’ to mean investigating formally. I think the more important point is the contents of the report. And, perhaps, the exclusion of the word ‘royal’.
Hank Marvin: Maybe the jokers were afraid of Perkasa and Isma and thus the term ‘royal’ was dropped. But royal or not it is clear that the whole exercise was a letdown.
