Here we go again, Umno’s imagined hurt
Rally to topple gov’t and we’ll retaliate, Pesaka warns
Kalvin Rekhraj: If stomping on a photograph is a challenge to the dignity of one race, what would burning effigies of opposition leaders be called?
It is easy to gather a crowd if the attendees are paid or duped into doing so, as the loads of videos and statements from the Sept 16 ‘Himpunan Rakyat Bersatu’ have shown.
Not one statement from Bersih 4 had anything to do with toppling the government but Umno keeps saying so with not one bit of proof to back those claims.
And all four Bersih rallies brought all races in Malaysia together therefore it is only safe to say that the Sept 16 rally was a show of support for Umno and most of its supporters were bussed in.
If the organisers have that kind of money to rent a crowd, imagine what Umno can do to influence how someone votes. So Ali Rustam, who exactly are challenging the Malays?
Drngsc: National Silat Federation (Pesaka) chief Mohd Ali Rustam, do whatever you wish. We are not afraid of your organisation.
Should PM Najib Razak continue to abuse his power and there is no accountability for 1MDB as well as the RM2.67 billion in his personal bank account, we will be out again.
Bersih will decide when and where. We love Malaysia, while you just love the money that Umno brings to you.
Please do not hide behind phrases like ‘dignity of Malays’. The destroyer of Malay dignity is Umno. You are just worried that you may lose your source of allegedly corrupt wealth. That is why you are trying to keep Umno alive – for the cash that it brings to you.
Anonymous_1393648884: Ali Rustam’s mind is shallow: two persons stomped on a picture of Najib and PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang – they had since gone to the cops and apologised – and yet this is considered an affront to Malay dignity and the justification for a scripted anti-Chinese demonstration.
Anonymous 23651434356067: What you are trying to say is that if a non-Malay steals something, the whole community has to be punished. It appears that you keep on issuing warnings and at the same time call for peace.
Kuasa Rakyat: Stomping on pictures, splashing paint on pictures, burning effigies – these are the specialty of some Umno members. Ali Rustam is right – these Umno members are an embarrassment.
Ipohcrite: Ali Rustam is very good at telling stories and fairy tales. But nobody believes him, except the rent-a-mob rabble-rousers that were paid to rally.
In fact, he is the type of opportunist politician that sullies the dignity of all right-thinking Malaysians and brings shame to the nation.
Odysseus: This is the type of low-grade leaders Umno has. He can’t differentiate an allegedly corrupt leader from the government.
Throwing out a prime minister doesn’t mean the collapse of a government. If he has problem understanding this, just take a look at Australia which has just changed its prime minister. It’s the rule of the game.
Perhaps Ali Rustam doesn’t understand the rule. Indeed, he has shown his lack of understanding when he lost in the last general election – he blamed the Chinese instead.
Roger 5201: Yes, Ali Rustam does not seem to understand in a democracy, one can topple the government through the ballot box or purge its leader through a vote of no confidence.
The Bersih 4 rally was about fighting corruption by calling for a clean and fair government, what is so wrong with that?
Kawak: The frustrated Ali Rustam, who lost his parliamentary seat to Malacca PKR chief Shamsul Iskandar, is still very sore. He had blamed the Chinese for supporting PKR instead of Umno.
Ali and PM keep on harping and spinning that the Bersih 4 rally was to overthrow the government. The demand of Bersih is for fair and clean elections and asking Najib to resign in the wake of the 1MDB financial scandals.
Asking the PM to resign is not overthrowing the government, stupid!
Iiiizzzziiii: One cannot help but get the feeling that Ali Rustam is a wolf in sheep clothing and you can smell him from miles and miles away.
What had Pesaka proven in the Sept 16 rally? It is anything but about Malay dignity. It has disrupted racial harmony because the rally targeted a specific race and party.
The practicing of self-defence was never meant as a show of strength and to intimitate others or to hurl insults.
So, Ali Rustam whichever hole you crawled out from, please crawl back inside.
Eagle: Ali Rustam, what a shocker you have just made. If you think that Malay pride means protecting a very corrupt leader, then you are not worth the salt you have eaten in your life.
Ask anyone whether it is fair. You steal a chicken or a bar of chocolate, you go to jail. You stole billions, nothing happens because it’s a donation. I think your pride is misplaced.
