Azmin, what’s to stop PAS jumping ship in case of a draw
Harapan leaders not confident Azmin can broker deal with PAS
Clever Voter: PAS as a party has moved on. PKR deputy president Azmin Ali hasn’t. There is no point in engaging members of PAS when it should be done at the party level. Azmin should focus his energy internally.
He is probably counting on a few individuals who will either be booted out or not even be considered as suited for PAS/Umno.
It is obvious Umno may even consider PAS more winnable than some of the existing partners. PAS has the patience to seize any opportunity. Azmin’s position may not even be tenable if he loses Selangor.
It would be more worthwhile to fortify his position while he still can, but not with PAS.
Tpn: Indeed, why is Azmin wasting his time with PAS time and again? They cannot be trusted, especially with PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang leading the party.
Foureyes: Assuming Azmin succeeds and PAS agrees not to contest in some seats and Harapan and PKR give way in some constituencies to PAS, and the GE results show a virtual tie, who do you think Hadi would side to form government?
In the end, it may be better for Bersatu, DAP and Amanah to remain in Harapan and PKR join up with PAS.
Frank: Earlier, it was Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin and company who were so eager to work with traitors from that party. Now, it is Azmin. And all because primarily it is their ticket to the prime minister’s post if they could actually bring back that traitor of a party to Harapan.
With this type of people in Harapan it would mean one, and only one thing: we the people of Malaysia, including their friends in Harapan, need to suffer further (for the next five to 10 years?) before change can actually take place.
And these so-called leaders from Harapan too will need to suffer the consequences of their stupidity before they can finally wake up and see the confusion, misery and stupidity that is PAS.
Hamzah Paiman: Many have lost confidence with Azmin as he is unable to spruce up the existing confidence among the Harapan coalition.
He seems to be still dreaming of an alliance with PAS who had clearly rejected working with the opposition. If he is not confident and feels strongly about PAS, then he should just join PAS instead of dragging Harapan down.
The Analyser: Come on, give us a break? Azmin is no more a “key political strategist” than I am a brain surgeon. A fact that will become even clearer at GE14.
He has strategised over a disaster in Sarawak. The success of the former Pakatan Rakyat at GE13 had more to do with the optimism of Malaysians than it had to do with politics.
Since that time, Azmin has presided over a disintegrating party dogged by internal bickering and destroyed by its own political ineptitude and growing Islamisation.
They were a party on a winning streak. Now they are nothing… destroyed by their own strategies.
Tulan: Azmin and his chief Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail are destroying Harapan’s chances in GE14 with their close association with PAS. ‘Taliban’ Hadi cannot be trusted, and PAS would never accept Amanah and DAP.
FairMind: PAS is possibly using Azmin to help Umno, and in return the latter hopes to horse trade with Umno for political gains.
Azmin is only benefiting PAS and Umno with the so-called negotiation, which at the same time will be confusing voters and weakening Harapan.
Robbed: Perhaps Azmin is wary of personalities in Amanah, because if DAP maintains its current seats and Amanah makes inroads, DAP could back a candidate from Amanah to be the menteri besar instead of Azmin. That is a possible reason, no?
Anonymous_3f94: Asking PAS to come back into the opposition fold is like asking BN to join the opposition fold. It is absurd. PAS and BN are now one and the same.
Anonymous_3f94: Quote: “Azmin even positioned himself in such a way that during the 2015 Selangor menteri besar crisis he became the new state chief administrator without ever publicly campaigning for the job.” The key word is ‘publicly’.
What deal did Azmin carve out for himself when he negotiated with Hadi? Is he prepared to forego Putrajaya just to try to ensure the MB’s position for himself, and in the process, lose both?
Existential Turd: “We are cooperating with Umno to ‘merungkai’ (dismantle) Umno,” said Hadi.
By the same extension, when PAS was cooperating with Pakatan Rakyat, were they also trying to ‘merungkai’ the opposition pact? Which is the truth? Is any of it true?
What do you call a person or a party who is only religious in speech, but never in deeds?
Dont Just Talk: Hadi is working with Umno not to ‘merungkai’ Umno, but instead be ‘merungkai-ed’ by Umno a second time.
Cheat me once, shame on you, but cheat me twice, shame on me. And PAS will learn a bitter lesson the second time around by sleeping with Umno in GE14
The Malaysian voters will send PAS back to Kampung Rusila, Terengganu. Even Kelantan PAS government will be ‘merungkai-ed’ either by Umno or Pakatan Harapan.
NNFC: Hadi uses his own homegrown design of his faith to justify that he should run the country. This is bullocks obviously because a person who runs the country ought to have some principles and knowledge of economics and commerce, etc.
Ex-Wfw: I am just wondering, not about Hadi, but the majority of his supporters; what are they doing in view of such blatant and deliberate refusal to acknowledge the truth?
He can hardly blame any Malaysian for having the only possible conclusion.
