Yoursay: ‘Father sets up Felda, son destroys it’
Isa ready to cooperate with cops on Felda land scandal
Clever Voter: As long as Prime Minister Najib Razak helms BN, former Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) chairperson Isa Samad is safe from any punitive action.
As the past chairperson, he was allegedly involved in this dubious land deal. This is part of privileges he enjoys, but they do have shelf life – so long as BN stays put as the ruling establishment, these characters will remain.
The need for change is obvious, and by the same token, this is the very reason why resistance is so strong.
Anonymous 2436471476414726: Isa, what else can you say, but co-operate with the police? Then again, by the look on your face, you are fairly confident you will not be found guilty.
To the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), carry out your investigation without fear or favour. Whether big or small fish, they must be held accountable.
Watan: If I was sure I wouldn’t face the consequences, I would cooperate with the police and MACC too.
Relax, folks, don’t get too excited. Remember in this country, the government’s money is not the people’s money, an organisation’s money is not its members’ money.
Everything is up for grabs here, and money can be spent according to the rules and regulations you determine yourself.
Victor Johan: Don’t you worry, Isa. After all, when you were Negeri Sembilan menteri besar, you allegedly did the big boss a huge favour in Port Dickson.
Even Umno information chief Annuar Musa was recently given a “no further action” conclusion by MACC.
VGV: There’s nowhere else to run to, Isa. You’re only being given time to “refresh” your memory with your partners before you are summoned.
But I do sincerely hope the police and MACC will do their job professionally.
And I don’t think a “hidden hand” will come to the rescue this time. It looks like you’ve been made the scapegoat. It’s better to grab that “hidden hand” and pull it down with you.
Dah Jadi Bubur: Land, land, land, money, money, money, hanky-panky, hunky dory. Merry Christmas. Santa Claus has been very generous in Kleptasia.
Najib cannot wash hands of Felda land scandal, says Anak chief
Vijay47: Once again, we are treated to a show of the sheer arrogance of Umno and its cohorts, who are convinced they can do as they please, and are above and beyond the law.
But it does seem that with this latest Felda scandal – another one in a long list – that perhaps Umno may have bitten off more than it can chew. Perhaps. But we cannot write off that band’s ingenuity when it comes to fleeing from the scene of the alleged crime.
The first question that comes to mind is how Isa, despite his shameful record, was appointed head of the Land Public Transport Authority?
The second, more obvious question is, what moral authority does the prime minister have to take action against anyone caught with their hands buried deep in the till?
Clever Voter: Yes, another dubious deal dug up from Felda’s bony backyard. Everything that could go wrong with this organisation ever since its corporatisation has gone wrong.
The rot started from the minute they appointed a chairperson with tainted character. The temptations of dipping one’s hands into the money pot were apparently too irresistible.
Resolving the issues would require more than words of commitment. In the effort to unravel the sordid history, many more skeletons may just fall out. I wouldn’t be surprised if the well-connected but shameless politicians and businesspeople are involved.
Would this be worth doing for them given that the election is just around the corner?
Clong Views: It is getting hotter for Isa. Surely, when he cannot take the heat anymore, he will spill the beans and blow the whole institution up, dragging the alleged crooks and cronies down with him.
Let the fireworks begin.
Anonymous 767061504497195: Why is it that every appointee in this government seems to be greedy and corrupt, there only to pillage the very institutions they are heading.
My Views: I saw this posted somewhere on social media: “Father sets up Felda, son destroys it.” Wonder if there’s any truth to that?
What a pity for the hardworking settlers.
Ravinder: The Felda settlers must turn their anger into votes for the opposition. Will they do it?
Persatuan Anak Peneroka Felda Kebangsaan (Anak) has to convince them to do so. Felda was not set up for the corrupt to rob them.
Hang Babeuf: This week’s motto: Save Jerusalem, ransack Felda.
Isa, people say, has been known in the past to take care of the ‘saki-baki’ and left-overs of Najib’s mistakes. Here too in this case?
Goldee: It looks like the media has nothing positive to report other than disgusting news on corruption under the current regime.
We did have corruption cases aplenty during the tenure of the ex-PMs, but never of this magnitude.
