YOURSAY ‘How come he used the gov’t jet? Shouldn’t he foot the bill?’

Flight data shows gov’t jet traipsing around Europe

Najib Tour Casey: From Dr Mahathir Mohamad to Najib Razak, regardless of the dissembling of government-sponsored propagandists, corporate Malaysia has always been a government subsidised, bubble-inflating, swindlers’ game; in which, the plutocratic personalities – not the true job creators but the rent-seekers – thrive.

By the exploitation of the working men and the lower echelon of the society, a ruthless few, in cohort with the powers-that-be, have amassed insane wealth and power by which they dominate mainstream economic lifelines; compromise electoral democracy; usurp the principle of trias politica or the separation of power; and thereby gaming the system for their own selfish benefit.

Until Umno is voted out and unceremoniously replaced in the coming GEs, it’ll be business as usual for these exquisitely tailored plutocrats, who owe their continued wealth to government largesses and guarantees, while the sight of struggling ragtag people will increase in number.

The cry of “berjuang untuk bangsa, agama dan negara” is but an artifice, a political myth, designed to conceal from the masses the dominance of self-perpetuating, and self-serving traditional ruling class.

Perkasa, Isma and those right-wing NGOs, which champion the illusionary grail of ‘Ketuanan Melayu’, are just pawns in chess game. It’s about time they wake up to the hard reality.

It’s about time they rally behind the political game changers, the civil rights activists and the liberators in order to oust a regime and a system that has been corrupted beyond redemption for the common good and the future of our nation.

Doc: Well, it shows that the PM can go missing for two weeks and the country carried on just fine without him. Malaysia’s government should be changed to ‘autopilot’ democracy.

Loveforpeace: The MH370 and MH17 are absolutely ill-fated. People can mourn for that but not to the extent of affecting their daily life.

The PM may be on leave or made a discreet official trip to a few European countries. As PM, doesn’t he has the responsibility to carry out the necessary foreign trips to maintain the bilateral relationships with those countries?

And what if he didn’t travel in that private aircraft as claimed byAsia Sentinel?

Sarah Tan: Has it been confirmed that it was a holiday trip? Anyone has proof to that claim? I doubt that.
Najib is a well-brought up and educated man. For God’s sake, he’s the prime minister.
I’m sure he has a clear justification for his actions. And one can’t be that stupid to go on a holiday tour at such a hard time.

Not Convinced: Sarah Tan, can’t you read?

“Malaysiakini had contacted Najib (Razak)’s press secretary Tengku Sarifuddin Tengku Ahmad today for verification of Asia Sentinel’s report.

“He said, ‘PM is on leave,’ and hung up when asked to elaborate, while attempts to contact tycoon Jho Low have been unsuccessful thus far.”

Durio Zibethinus: Was the PM on holiday or AWOL (absence without leave)? In either case, he should have appointed an acting PM according to convention just in case his flight went missing or was shot down.

If he was on holiday and on the plane tracked by Malaysiakini, how come he used the government jet? Shouldn’t he foot the bill?

A moral poser is why was PM on a holiday trip when we are suppose to be in mourning over MH17?

Negarawan: The authenticity and accuracy of the report need to be verified. If this is proven true, then it’s only a further confirmation to what most people already know about Najib’s and his wife Rosmah Mansor’s extravagant lifestyle.

This happening at a time of mourning for the more than 500 lives lost in MH370 and MH17 shows that the condolences expressed by the PM and wife may not be genuine and only an act.

Furthermore, it has also to be verified if they were spending public money for their extravagant trips.

Vijay47: Several readers have commented here, quite rightly, that this news article is still within the realms of possibilities or even gossip and that Malaysiakini should first verify the accuracy of the contents.

Yet close to 79 people at last count, including me, have chosen to give their two bits’ worth and most of their comments can hardly be said to be favourable to Najib, and his wife, of course. Why is this so?

Because far too often have we encountered the hypocrisy and prevarication of those in power and people, including me, simply relish the opportunity, however feeble, of giving them a good one when we can and bringing them down a peg or two.

This distaste is especially refined when the activities in question include darling wife Rosmah.

WDA: Hari Raya open houses cancelled, Merdeka celebrations toned down, but European holidays cannot be cancelled or at least postponed?

Well, the PM did say that he hardly had a good night’s sleep due to the MH17 incident. I am sure the first couple had the MH17 victims and their families in mind during their holiday. It must have been a subdued vacation like the Raya and Merdeka celebrations this year.

SRMan: Najib holidaying in so many beautiful European cities? It cannot be because our government leaders are so sad that we have a National Day of Mourning for the victims of both MH370 and MH17 next Friday.

Besides we would not be celebrating National Day this year as a mark of respect for the victims.
