YOURSAY ‘Earlier a church, now mineral water bottles. What’s next?’

On the slippery slope to the dark ages

‘Hindu deity on bottles may invoke worship’

Hindu deity picture2 Sarajun Hoda: Wow! We are back to the jahiliyah(dark ages) period 1,400 years ago.

It seems they are saying that if a Muslim sees a deity, they will quickly renounce Islam and rush to become a Hindu? What type of Muslims are these?

Muslim Consumers’ Association (PPIM) president Nadzim Johar is a very, very jahil (ignorant) person indeed and he is poisoning the minds of other Muslims.

Vijay47: Invoke worship? Is PPIM’s fear that Hindus are going to worship Lord Murugan or is it that Muslims are going to worship mineral bottles?

Just for the record, I think Hindus are already worshipping Lord Murugan and have been doing so for close to 4,000 years, which is slightly longer than the years Islam has been around.

This must be the latest flavour of the month – anything close to some Islamic feature is sensitive.

Earlier it was a church, now mineral water bottles, I wonder what next. People paying their taxes?

Dont Just Talk: It is getting more humorous living in Malaysia every single day. Last week, it was dog patting issue and today is Hindu deity next to the halal logo and who knows what tomorrow brings.

Dalvik: PPIM failed to respect the pluralism in this country that makes this country unique.

They also failed to go after the biggest threat in this country – corruption. Corruption has negative impact in this country, be it on business, consumers and the country’s competitiveness.

By harping on this petty issue – the bottle’s packaging is to promote ‘Cuti Cuti Malaysia 2014′ – PPIM is not helping this country’s tourism, which has been marred by the double MAS incidents and the security problem in Sabah.

Penang Mari-loh: Next thing to come, halal bank notes in wet markets and halal blood in hospitals. This country is going bonkers.

Anonymous_1371482984: Halal money? No way. When it comes to money, the question of halal does not arise.

Freethinker: Now halal logo is considered divine? Does that also mean any place with a halal logo must not have any non-halal food nearby?

Idon’tlikekangkung: Just when you thought that stupidity could go no lower, another pops up (or perhaps the more appropriate word would be down) and proves you wrong.

There are depths of idiocy and stupidity that defies all logic and common sense – but it can only be found with the religious bigots of Malaysia.

Avatar_2397: And so this Islamo-fascist NGO thinks that Muslims are so stupid that they will worship the image on the bottled water label just because it’s next to a halal logo? Who is the one with malicious intent?

Jiminy Qrikert: Malaysia is currently going through a period of religious sanitisation by these sanctimonious extremist Muslim fools who want us all to believe they are protecting Islam.

In truth, they are purging the country of anything that challenges the supremacy of Malays and Islam. Both Umno and PAS are in this ‘jihad’ together even as PAS claims to be political opponents to Umno.

The common ground is race and religion and as long as the purging serves to impose Malay and Muslim supremacy over all others, neither will check the excesses of the other.

Umno outsources the role of sanitising the country to such Malay/Muslim NGOs and various Muslims authorities who do all the dirty work to allow Umno to continue the pretense that they are not extremists themselves even though they are no less racists and bigots.

PAS, on the other hand, employs the authority of their ulamas in purging this country of all resistance to and obstacles in the way of ultimate Muslim, therefore Malay, supremacy. And Malays remain silent accomplices.

Negarawan: These extremist Muslim NGOs are probably funded by Umno directly or indirectly and need to be seen by Umno to champion some causes, no matter how stupid they are, to distract the rakyat from real issues the country is facing.

Now we have yet another nincompoop implying that the halal logo is sacred. Instead of focusing on real issues like rising cost of living, this so-called Muslim consumers association is wasting everyone’s time on trivialities.

Is Muslim Malaysians’ faith so weak, superficial and hateful that even the innocent placement of a halal logo on a water bottle can become a religious issue?

If you ask me, this is more of an insult to the Lord Murugan than anything else. Take these extremist NGOs to court to send them the right message – that right-thinking Malaysians will no longer tolerate such nonsense.

Tell the Truth: This NGO should be ashamed of its own self for having doubt in the gullibility of Muslims. Stop being an idiot. You think Muslims can be affected by this?

Stop making everything a sensitive issue. You guys should go and protest against corruption and injustice instead of looking for these unintentional acts of simple business people.

Labis Guy: What has happen to this once beautiful country? Mr Prime Minister, you should now step in and advise these sensitive people to be more tolerant.

Anon1: Is Nadzim afraid that a scandal between the image and the logo will take place when the lights are turned off?

Or is it that one particular section of the community aligned or indoctrinated by that ‘story-spinning and issue-stirring’ political party will get confused and question their faith due an image?

I suggest that it would be good for them to get rid of their television sets at home (especially those hooked on Hindi movies and Korean serials) and wear blinkers like horses.

I don’t see any other way to solve the problem.
