YOURSAY ‘The students need not worry, as Umno-BN gov’t is dying a painful death.’

Scholarships are funded by taxpayers, not gov’t

Global Bersih decries threat to revoke protesters’ scholarships

yrsaystudentscholarship Gen2indian: To all Malaysian students overseas on scholarship, if you have a conscience, go support Bersih 4. It’s your democratic right, but wear a mask so that one will know who you are.

Kmd_1371466233: The person who gave the instruction (to students to stay away from Bersih), please think carefully from where your salary comes. It is from the rakyat who pay their taxes.

Anonymous 117651438093233: Scholarships are from taxpayers and they are not meant for participation in protests to bring down the elected government of the day or the PM.

GE14now: Please remember that these scholarships are from the taxpayers and the 53 percent who voted against the BN government in the last general election, who are happy to continue to support these students.

By the very same token, since it is our money (and not some corrupt, sell-out-the-country donation obtained from some foreigner) we demand that if you revoke the scholarships of those who support Bersih, that you also revoke the scholarships of those who do not support Bersih as well. That would be natural justice.

And to Anonymous 117651438093233, since many of us are also taxpayers, these students can use our portion of our taxes to go for the march.

As usual, a ‘samseng’ (gangster) government issuing threats because that is the only way they know how to govern.

Anonymous_1426565266: How about Prime Minister Najib Razak revoking his PMship first, because the money transferred into his personal accounts is probably a million times more than the poor students’ scholarships?

JomUbahUbah: This threat shows that the corrupt, racist and abusive Umno-BN government is abusive to the highest order.

Mantra888: The students need not worry, as this callous Umno-BN government is dying a painful death.

Activist cites police brutality at Parliament protest

Negarawan: “It was under such circumstances that I was punched twice on my face and right part of my head until my nose started bleeding,” student activist Heng Kiah Chun said in his police report.

This is clearly an act of police brutality and gross abuse of power. The students were clearly outnumbered by the police, and were not resisting arrest, why then should the police act in such a brutal manner?

The cowards can be identified in the photos, and the Sentul OCPD has no reason to delay it, or the rakyat would take further action against these cowards.

Smer: Is that why they kept him for three days – to try to hide the wounds?

NNFC: This is truly brutality and bad behaviour by the police. I would rather they focus on catching crooks and thieves, but instead the government prefers to antagonise law-abiding citizens.

Hello: “We will investigate,” OCPD Asst Comm R Munusamy said curtly.

When I read this I couldn’t resist from laughing. Nine times out of 10 times the PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) absolves itself of any wrongdoing. What can one expect from them?

SabahanSentul: Munusamy, do the right thing and investigate and punish the policemen who are guilty.

Your children may suffer an even worse fate, if you do nothing. Remember the sins of the father will visit on the children.

Avatar 111: The police are public servants as they are paid by taxpayers, that is, the rakyat. Now the servants, instead of protecting the rakyat, are abusing and beating up their bosses.

Losses aside, business operators back Bersih

Dont Just Talk: “If we do not support Bersih 4, the next generation of Malaysians would become bankrupt, said the businessmen in the report who did not mind if his business is affected for the next two days during the Bersih rally.”

Well said, with all the corrupt politicians pillaging our nation’s reserves, it will be sooner rather than later before they bankrupt Malaysia.

Our ringgit has depreciated to RM4.20 to US$1 and RM3.05 to S$1. Have our leaders no shame whatsoever?

Goldee: The businessmen now realise something needs to be done because the country’s economy is badly affected due to internal problems, as well as external factors.

Investors no longer have confidence in our government due to many uncertainties looming over 1MDB. The whole country supports the call to ‘Bersihkan’ the government before it goes to the dogs.

James_3392: Bersih 4 may affect our business for a day or two, but the Goods and Services Tax (GST) has harmed our business eternally, so which is the greater evil?

To oppose the government or Bersih 4 – it is not difficult to decide.
