1MDB scandal non-believers are like climate change deniers
1MDB reports earn WSJ Pulitzer Prize nomination
Dont Just Talk: Premier Najib Razak and his cabinet ministers who defended the 1MDB financial scandals, have you all no shame.
The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) is taunting the Umno leaders to file a defamation suit against the news media for alleged false reports. But to date, nothing has happened. Now, WSJ has earned a finalist nomination for the 2015 Pulitzer Prize award for their coverage on Malaysia’s Watergate – the 1MDB scandal.
Can DPM Ahmad Zahid Hamidi or the Umno Youth leader Khairy Jamaluddin, not forgetting Abdul Rahman Dahlan and Azalina Othman Said, please file a class action against WSJ for defaming your boss?
Where is 1MDB CEO Arul Kanda Kandasamy going to hide his face when he proudly announced that 1MDB has surplus of RM2.3 billion in assets after settling 1MDB’s debts but failed to see the bigger picture painted by WSJ?
Anonymous$&@?: Isn’t it surprising that there are still Malaysians who are defending this 1MDB fiasco and claiming that the issue is being manipulated by the West, the Jews, the opposition, etc.
The world already knows and yet there are still non-believers in Malaysia.
This shows the morality of this group of Malaysian citizens, who have been brainwashed by the government-controlled media until they can’t tell right from wrong while professing they are pious God-fearing citizens, even more holier than their brothers in Middle East. What a load of hypocrites.
Not Convinced: The 1MDB scandal non-believers are like those who refuse to accept climate change. They will continue to deny it despite the planet charting record temperature in recent times.
Liew Lean Kut: Arul said not to worry, we will pay all our debts. He also said 1MDB has surplus even after paying its debts. Where is the money? Is it in units?
Not to worry. If it is not enough, the finance minister and 1MDB advisor can always up the goods and services tax (GST). The people can tighten their belt another notch.
Abasir: Congratulations, WSJ, for securing this nomination. We hope that your efforts at unmasking the crooks will also enable Malaysians to be rid of them for good.
Fear: 1MDB report earned WSJ nomination as Pulitzer Prize finalist. In Malaysia, reporting on 1MDB caused the banning of The Edge publication, the closing down of The Malaysia Insider, request to Interpol for the arrest of Sarawak Report editor.
Anonymous_1371978116: Keep it up, WSJ. Expose Umno in its entirety. We need constitutional reforms now.
It doesn’t matter if the next constitution does not have the entire governing structure in place immediately.
At this point, anything is better than the major scandals and money leakage that this government is putting out on a daily basis.
KnockKnock: At my age of 71, I had the impression there’s no news worthy of winning awards in the universe, except from Utusan Malaysia and TV3.
I believe our government will call Pulitzer committee to reconsider its decision. Perhaps the foreign minister of Saudi Arabia will also do his bit to back Malaysia’s objection.
James_3392: This is true blue professional investigative reporting. They have been highly professional in reporting, especially economic and financial news. Now they are being nominated for Pulitzer award. This just confirms their good work.
Bank Negara, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), and Bukit Aman should subscribe to this news journal for the benefit of their staff. They are miles ahead of Utusan.
GE14Now!: Well, we are famous once again – but for all the wrong reasons. As usual, Umno’s cybertroopers will soon rant (in appalling English) about conspiracies and how the Jewish media is trying to topple this government.
But they fail to see that this has gone way beyond just the media or one organisation. This is about grand corruption and the WSJ is not going to stick its neck out if it did not have correct information for scrutiny at the level of the Pulitzer Prize.
Whether or not 1MDB is ‘crowned’ with the dishonour of this prize is not important – the fact is the reports have undergone rigorous and robust measures, and was in line for a possible Pulitzer Prize.
Congratulations Mr PM for the notoriety that you have bestowed on this country. While your sycophants and toadies continue to support you, the rest of the country will just hang our heads in collective shame.
Fair Play: Indeed, never again would the rakyat of Malaysia say that their country is not world class. But of course, they are ashamed to admit this is for all the wrong reasons.
Ipohcrite: 1MDB and the Prime Minister’s Office should issue a statement condemning the award of the Pulitzer Prize to the WSJ since their collective stand is that the WSJ has been reporting lies and falsehood about 1MDB and the prime minister.
Now even the international community has been hoodwinked by WSJ. Or maybe not?
Maplesyrup: The only ‘saving grace’ for the beneficiary of the ‘donation’ is that the WSJ did not win the award.
Lies can’t bag Pulitzer prize, Gerakan leader drubs WSJ
Odin Tajué: Gerakan Youth chief Tan Keng Liang, you are talking about something you have no clue about. Your desire to curry favour with the regime is clearer than crystal.
In your pathetic attempt to ingratiate yourself with the alleged thieves and crooks and con men and liars, you have succeeded only in illustrating your total ignorance, and that you are talking sheer rubbish.
All that is obvious to those of we here who have more intelligence than you do, who read and understand what we read, and are informed enough about the various prestigious awards.
You should read the comments here made by many of my fellow readers to get a good idea of the image that you have projected of yourself.
Mushiro: There is a limit to apple polishing and Tan has exceeded the limit. Both sides have their logic however illogical – but it is the facts that determine the truth.
I guess for WSJ being selected as finalist in the Pulitzer prize for its reporting on 1MDB is not good enough for Tan – and that is his logical stand.
Speaking Sense: This little boy senses he is going to miss the gravy boat, otherwise how could anyone bring himself to say something so stupid?
How true the old adage – little boys should be seen and not heard.
