So police can quiz Dr M, but not Jho Low
Cops pose 37 questions in 30 minutes to Dr M
Cogito Ergo Sum: If you dare, charge former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad with sedition. Anything less will not shake him.
He knows his rights and knows them well. The day you charge Mahathir is the day you hasten your already downward spiral.
Shanandoah: Mahathir had created the problems over the last 20 years he was in office. Now it’s only he who can sort them out.
He was blinded by the power he held then. Not any more.
Anonymous #37634848: The police are wasting time with stupid questions for the most intelligent and experience ex-PM in the country.
Go to Najib instead and ask him about billions going to the fake Aabar BVI and the billions siphoned into a company allegedly owned by PM’s associate Jho Low. That would be more productive.
Fear: How come the police pose no questions for Jho Low? Is it when it involves billions, that no questions are asked?
‘Najib in denial by dismissing scandals raised as noise’
Existential Turd: Here’s the 101 on corruption: first embezzle public money quietly with the help of people in high places; then make sure they are paid well, that will ensure their silence.
The misappropriation can happen in a number of ways: private offshore companies, overpriced white elephant projects, etc.
If the first line of defence fails, investigate the whistleblower and claim that external forces (oppositions, Jews, foreign media, etc) are out to topple the government.
If that also fails, make up excuses, and give vague answers in defence. If that also fails, hire gangsters to stir up communal and religious tensions.
If that also fails, claim that everyone else is doing it. If that too fails, well, we have never reached that stage before.
Apache: PM Najib Razak, if this is just noise, why sack the DPM and the Kedah menteri besar for raising the 1MDB issue?
Why didn’t you sue The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) till kingdom come? Why have 1,001 different stories on the RM2.6 billion ‘donation’?
Why have foreign governments commenced investigations on the company and its money flows globally? Why was a banking licence cancelled in Singapore?
Appum: If Najib thinks it’s all “noise” then let him dissolve Parliament now and seek a fresh mandate from the people.
He thinks foreign businessmen are dumb fools like his Umno followers, and they are to believe him that it’s all “noise and (wrong) perception” on what’s happening to this country.
He thinks that the foreign businessmen and people all around the world do not read WSJ, Sarawak Report, the Economist, New York Times, Malaysiakini and others.
He also fails to recognise that foreign funds and investors have exited from the Malaysian equity market, moving out billions of ringgit. They are going to neighbouring countries where the political and economic situation is more stable and free from such massive scandals.
What is the main objective of a sovereign wealth fund? To build up our national cash reserves through solid investments in order to help further develop the country and maintain a healthy reserve fund. But what has our 1MDB done?
Anonymous 2415891461978791: What has become of the missing billions? The auditor-general’s report says about US$7 billion is unaccounted for. Where did the money go?
Kept under the rug? The dog ate the money? Lost by the post office? Someone’s wife misplaced it in her handbag? Oh, where oh where, did the missing billions go?
By the end of 2016, the word that will first occur to anyone in the world when they hear “Malaysia” will be “corruption.” Of course, this merely extends to the global audience what Malaysians already know.
Clever Voter: The rise and fall of empires are well documented. Najib and his government will be no different. They cannot bring their ill-gotten wealth beyond death, but their records will not be erased.
They will never admit nor will they succumb to pressure so long as the people have their three meals, a patronage system supported by an apathetic middle-class and investors who put profits above values of truth and integrity.
For now, “noises” will come and go. The system is intact but the complexity and complications of the system can bring uncertainty and surprises.
Restless: Denial is an understatement. Open, blatant and irresponsible lying, spinning, evading, twisting, reversal and defiance of the rule of law are the most appropriate descriptions that befit the ruling kleptocracy.
