YOURSAY | ‘Can Apandi now claim that Malaysian Official 1 is free from misdeeds?’

Round one of M’sian AG vs US AG

‘M’sians defrauded on enormous scale, 1MDB funds used to pay gambling debts’

yrsayusagyoursay-EnglishClever Voter: It has been very clear from the beginning that fraud and deception had taken place.

Sadly, the culprit involves big wigs in government, so the real question is what’s next. The prosecuting agencies have been neutralised so we should expect no action from them.

This case involves the entire feeding chain and if disturbed, hundreds of individuals will be affected. It’s unlikely we see hundreds arrested.

So it’s business as usual but shameless is something that guilty people have amazingly mastered.

Jesse: Now that the civil suit has commenced in the US for the allegedly stolen public money to be recovered, what are so-called enforcement authorities in this country doing, especially the sycophant attorney-general (AG) who has exonerated the chief culprit in this sordid affair?

Such deep-seated corruption by those in power is a disgrace to the nation’s reputation. But you wouldn’t care, especially those who are cabinet members.

Lone_Star: The rakyat must understand that 1MDB has not benefitted from any of the transactions listed in the US Department of Justice (DOJ) lawsuits to seize assets purchased using funds allegedly siphoned from 1MDB.

The rakyat may now understand why ‘Malaysian Official 1’ seeks forgiveness.

Tailek: Never in the history of our blessed country has there been so much scandal linked to the number one leader.

It is a damning indictment of our nation and its leaders. I hope the DOJ will slap criminal charges against those involved, whether they are in the US or abroad.

They should not be allowed to go scot-free by coughing up their ill-gotten gains. They must serve jail time as a warning to others.

Headhunter: Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown and The Wall Street Journal both come out of this smelling like a rose.

Malaysians should be grateful to them for exposing the crooks who have been robbing and plundering the country.

Rewcastle-Brown deserves a Tan Sri for her relentless perseverance in exposing the truth.

CQ Muar: The Malaysian AG versus the American AG? Can the former claim that Malaysian Official 1 is free from misdeeds and wrongdoings?

Just how convincing can you be, Mohamed Apandi Ali, when pitted against your counterpart in the US?

Tony Soprano: The US has no jurisdiction over foreign officials in a foreign country unless they are involved in some egregious crime syndicate on US soil, such as drug trafficking.

In such a case they can only request extradition, as they have done in the case of the Mexican drug lord known as El Chapo.

Rupert16: I hope Najib and his wife, Rosmah Mansor, can have a good sleep today. Najib’s alleged shenanigans in 1MDB are now exposed for all the world to see.

We wait with bated breath to hear what Najib’s lackeys, such as ministers Abdul Rahman Dahlan and Salleh Said Keruak have got to say.

And also Apandi and the ‘Cari Makan’ Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chief Hasan Arifin

To the tweeter-happy inspector-general of police (IGP), you have done a good job with your inaction in going after the criminals in 1MDB.

Unspin: Presumably our IGP is waiting for the DOJ to make a police report in Malaysia before launching an investigation into the largest ever heist in our country.

Anonymous 1034721438846003: Dear Najib, you have brought shame to Malaysia, particularly to your party and the people who vote you to office.

I doubt you have the integrity to step down as PM and luck will go against you when your golf buddy, Barack Obama, retires as US president later this year.

We, the rakyat, have the time but you don’t.

FairMind: Isn’t it strange that the US DOJ has revealed that massive amount of 1MDB’s money has been stolen and there were no police report from 1MDB. The money involved could be the entire GDP of a small country.

My sympathy goes to the poor Malaysians who are trying to eke out a living by putting two meals on the table in face of increasing burden of Goods and Services Tax (GST), rising food prices, petrol, transportation and practically everything else.

Hang Babeuf: Can disregard, this is not serious. It is just “stock” FBI stuff.

You know, we all know, what FBI is: Front Bantai Islam. We know who our friends are. And who are our enemies.

These FBI hacks are not our friends. We can ignore them. They have a political motive and an agenda. Unlike our own noble, principled leaders.

“Hidup Melayu! Hidup Umno! Hidup Najib!”

1MDB funds used to pay gambling debts – what say you, Hadi?
