Azalina, some do not want to be accomplice to a crime
Azalina wants stern action on civil servants who slander gov’t
Fairplayer: Minister in the PM’s Department Azalina Said Othman, is that a threat aimed at silencing the vocal and honest?
Are you resorting to a tyrannical stance to cover up corruption and all kinds of malpractices so prevalent in the Umno-led BN government, as allegedly practised and exemplified by your boss and all the BN ministers and politicians?
Please, Azalina, be more intelligent and please don’t use brute force to gag and intimidate the brave and responsible civil and ex-civil servants.
Anonymous #19098644: Yes, protect the crooks and looters and persecute those who uphold truth and integrity. That is what Umno has become.
Mosquitobrain: The Attorney-General’s Chambers has refused to extend mutual legal assistance to Swiss monetary authority over its 1MDB probe. Instead, it cleared MO1 (Malaysian Official 1) of any wrongdoings.
A few days earlier, Minister in the PM’s Department Abdul Rahman Dahlan came to MO1’s defence regarding the SRC probe conducted by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). Now, another minister in the PM’s Department has hastily come out to protect MO1.
Azalina has warned and threatened to take action against civil servants and ex-civil servants found defaming the ‘government’. This is pathetic. She can’t even tell right from wrong.
Mamadias: This is typical of current Umno ministers. If the government was transparent in their investigation and allow the full findings of the auditor-general to be tabled for the rakyat to see and read, we would be able to see who is doing the slandering and who is hiding the truth.
So, Azalina please stop being a hypocrite. Don’t you dare threaten the rakyat since the money you take home and enjoy is coming from our sweat and tears.
GE14Now!: It appears that those who speak against the excesses and the wrongdoings of the government would be punished, while those who steal money from the country would remain free.
These are the actions of a corrupt and failed government.
Gotcha: Indirectly, Azalina is telling civil servants to sweep anything unusual done by those in power under the carpet. For her, self-interest is more important than the nation’s interest.
Gaji Buta: Because all documents are classified, these people can claim everything as slander and attacks to the government, as no one has access to the truth. Ingenious.
Raja Chulan: So good civil servants must go overseas and smoke cigar bought using stolen money or money belonging to rakyat?
My dear Azalina, all must tell the truth whatever they are – civil servant or private sector workers. Telling the truth is good, period. The law must protect them.
Telling lies and intimidating others with powers granted by the rakyat is not good at all. Didn’t your parents teach you this simple thing?
Any law that restricts the revelation of truth must be thrown into the dustbin as it is against societal needs. What say you, Azalina?
Bumiputhran: Universally it is embedded in most criminal penal codes that he who witnesses or know of a crime having been committed must report it to the authorities, failing which the witness too would be charged as an accomplice.
Any minister like you, who threaten the witnesses to a crime to remain silent would be seen as a greater complicit person in the commission and abetment of the crime.
Not Confused: Sorry Azalina, the current bad perception of the government results directly from the action (or often lack of action) of many members of this ailing government.
Anyone who feels aggrieved can take action – by using the courts to sue the person or persons concerned for slander or libel, whichever is appropriate.
It is not up to you to protect anyone from criticism or political attack, so I suggest you go back into your burrow and keep quiet.
Versey: If Azalina’s remark is an innuendo to suggest the once MACC Special Operations Division director Bahri Mohd Zin had defamed the government, will the government dare to bring it up in the court to expose everything regarding the findings of the SRC investigations by the then MACC task force?
Why not lay out everything in the court and let the rakyat judge whether Bahri had defamed the government or he has a valid case to say what he had said.
Fair&Just: This is like kindergarten fairy tales where one doesn’t know RM42 million was deposited in one’s personal bank account.
Hello, it’s such huge sum. Who would simply bank in the money and not inform the beneficiary?
Oscar Kilo: Unverified source? You mean… such as the anonymous generous Arab donor(s)?
Simple Malaysian: Azalina, please clarify to us rakyat what should a civil servant do if he or she has found some wrongdoing by the government itself?
From this report, it tells me all civil servants should just shut their mouths, retire and collect their pensions. Is this the democratic freedom in Malaysia we tell the world about?
Is the way the government, which is chosen by the rakyat and for the rakyat, functions? I guess we will not receive an official reply to these questions, at least by the current government which Azalina is part of.
Appum: If someone mistakenly deposited millions into my bank personal account, can I keep or spend it without returning it and not face a criminal charge, AG Mohamed Apandi Ali?
One rule should apply to all and sundry, right? Can I use the AG’s statement as my defence? The icing on the cake is… I get to keep the money as my PM does?
