YOURSAY | ‘Does Pandikar Amin Mulia care about how Parliament records will forever remember his conduct?’

Pandikar may care not, but rakyat and history certainly will

‘I don’t care what they say,’ Pandikar denies taking orders from BN

yrsaypandicaresnotyour say1Vijay47: PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang’s bill is both serious and controversial with untold ramifications to the nation and you wanted to end it early?

Just the day before, the Dewan Rakyat sitting had ended at a record-breaking 5.20am! Wasn’t there a need then to “end early”?

You dismiss MIC president S Subramaniam’s inadvertent admission as a SOP for political mileage but you did not deny that BN had already decided on the fate of Abdul Hadi’s bill.

Pandikar Amin Mulia, you can defiantly crow that you don’t care, but as the speaker, you should care about people’s opinion of the manner in which you execute your responsibilities.

When a sizeable proportion of the population view you with utter contempt and disdain, it can only mean that your conduct is abysmally less than fair and honourable. People of such conduct usually “don’t care”.

Ravinder: “So when I was given freedom on that day, I wanted to end it early,” he said.

Who gave him the freedom? So, he has a master that he listens to.

BN does not have to give written orders or for that matter even verbal orders. Pandikar is a member of Umno and this is reason enough for him to ensure Umno’s agenda prevails.

He is also paid a salary by the government and just a couple of weeks ago the chief secretary warned those receiving salary from the government “not to bite the hand that feeds them”.

I don’t care what Pandikar says. As an Umno member, his party’s interests must come first, for he is human.

Allforit: He is behaving exactly like a child. A Speaker does not take sides. Go learn from the likes of Hannah Yeoh and Singapore’s speaker of parliament.

Anonymous 2436471476414726: The way we see it you need not have a marathon session on Thursday morning and instead continued on as normal.

Since there was not enough time, you could have ruled that Abdul Hadi’s motion could not be tabled. There was no need for your staff to spend the night in Parliament.

But no, you timed everything to perfection just so the motion could be tabled without debate and voting.

You denied you were instructed to do so. Do you think the rakyat are so stupid to believe that? It was so obvious even to a child that you were playing your part in the sinister plot of MO1 to use the Abdul Hadi’s bill as a political football.

Mr Speaker, no matter what you say we have known from past trend that are never shy to abuse your power. For example you disallowed motion to discuss the 1MDB scandal on the silliest of excuses.

Gaji Buta: So BN component parties – MCA, MIC and Gerakan – claimed credit that BN agreed not to table the bill in spirit of BN, which also technically gives them a back door so they won’t have to eat their words and leave BN, but then goes on to push the bill for PAS to table it.

Do they take us for idiots?

SusahKes: Pandikar, we also couldn’t care less, whether you care or not. What we care about is whether you acted out of your jurisdiction by deferring the debate.

If this question was posed to you, how would you support or validate your decision by reference to Dewan Rakyat Standing Orders?

Don’t instead, turn this into your personal fiefdom by uttering nonsense such as, “What matters is what I say and what I do”.

With such replies, you sound more like a brute version of Simba the Lion King in a jungle, than a parliamentary speaker.

Just because there is a RM1.8 million new access road to your official residence, it does not mean that Parliament belongs to you.

Simple Malaysian: Pandikar, while you do not care what others say about you taking orders, the rakyat on the street view you with contempt towards the rights of law-abiding rakyat.

Clever Voter: Arrogance would not get anyone far. He may not be an elected representative but what he does has implications on the nation.

He should realise that his salary and perks come from hard earned money from taxpayers. Therefore to say he doesn’t care clearly shows BN, as his employer, is not worth anyone’s vote.

Anonymous_1397613657: Pandikar, you may not care what they say but we rakyat and the world are watching.

How you conduct the Dewan Rakyat sitting will be recorded in history. Aren’t you ashamed for being a biased?
