YOURSAY | ‘I want to be PM too, perhaps not just PM of Malaysia, but of England…’

Why shouldn’t a M’sian dream to be PM?

How many Malaysians will believe that I want to be the PM?

your say1yrsaywhynotRponsible Malaysian: Nobody in any other country would be asked if he or she has a dream to become prime minister.

Why are we feeling so insecure to worry who wants to be PM? Are we going to get all our citizens to swear if he/she wishes/dreams to become PM? This issue is unbelievably stupid.

Actually, I want to be PM too, perhaps not just PM of Malaysia, but of England, Singapore and Australia as well. Nobody can deny my dream to be PM of any nation.

However, this is not the point. The point is whether I can get enough support to become PM. I hope that every one of us understands that we can dream to become somebody someday.

Nobody has the right to condemn or deny my dream.Whoever tells you that you cannot wish and dream, just tell him or her to get lost.

Mafeeah: If people have simple logic and common sense, you will know the DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang cannot, and never will, become PM. Full stop.

So for those harping on this issue, it only shows your stupidity.

What the Dickens: Lim is truly a gem in Malaysian politics – loyal to the country and a patriotic fighter for justice, fair play, equal rights and opportunities for all citizens, and a fighter against corruption.

The Americans used to think that an African-American becoming the US president one day was farfetched and ludicrous. But it happened in the likes of Barack Obama.

So, what is wrong if a person from a minority ethnic group in Malaysia becomes a PM in future if he is qualified, capable and has the support of the people?

Anonymous #33227154:Indeed, what’s wrong with Lim or his son, Guan Eng, wanting to be PM? In fact, what’s wrong if any Chinese, Indian or non-Muslim wants to be PM?

The best and most competent Malaysians, regardless of race or religion, should be our PM. If Malaysia still insists on being racist and only wants a Malay and Muslim PM, then Malaysia will continue to be doomed and never be a progressive, prosperous country.

Malaysia will join the ranks of Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Syria, etc. That will be the kind of legacy we will leave to our children and future generations, and all Malaysians will suffer, including the Malays.

Do we really want this?

ExistentialTurd: Lim can certainly speak for himself. But he cannot claim to speak for the entire Chinese or non-Malay population.

He having no design for the PM position or any other ministerial position does not preclude other qualified Chinese or non-Malays from aspiring to be PM.

Unless Malaysia can move out of the shadow of the Malay-first (and Malay-only) policy, we will never progress.

The Malay-only policy has poisoned the country because Malay politicians can be secure in knowing that no matter how corrupt they are, they will never be impeached.

Anonymous 1802761448130592: Some people forget that DAP is a multiracial party comprising members from different ethnic, racial, religious and regional backgrounds.

Couldn’t a Malay member of DAP or a DAP member from the Dayak or Kadazandusun groups in Sabah or Sarawak, with the support of the majority of Malaysians, want to become the PM of Malaysia?

Clever Voter: Despite the multiracial nature of the party, DAP is a convenient punching bag for the BN-controlled media mainstream. Weak politicians have a tendency to paint Lim as a racist and as anti-Islamic.

It’s easy to win brownie points among the gullible society. We all know Lim in reality isn’t like that. Although age has caught up with Lim, he has not lost sight of the vision of a truly Malaysian society.

He leaves behind a legacy that will be sustained by the next generation. If only we could turn the clock back, but we know that this is a rare Malaysian whom we will miss when he retires.

Jaguh: Lim, we know well you don’t have those aspirations. You are the most respected politician in Malaysian history and the most Malaysian of all.

Your dream of a Malaysian Malaysia unfortunately has fallen prey to gerrymandering and cheating.

We are with you to realise this dream, but if it does not happen after the 14th general election (GE14), then we are all really screwed.

Tulan: Malaysia has been ruled by Umno since Independence in 1957. How far in terms of progress has this brought the country, compared to countries like Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, etc? A kleptocratic country is what they have achieved.

Malaysians regardless of race must decide now to throw BN out into the bin at the back lanes for dump sites, to be buried for good.

Spinnot: After decades of brainwashing by Umno, including by their former party president Dr Mahathir Mohamad, the Malay mindset cannot be altered overnight.

Reverse123: Imagine a ‘government’ of the day recalling an opposition parliamentarian, ie Lim, to help testify in their own (Umno’s) failed forex (foreign exchange) project 26 years ago.

Do you mean to tell us, the Finance Ministry and Bank Negara have no records?

StupidIs As Stupid Does: Umno cannot defend their reputation of allegedly robbing the people, so they are fighting back with fake news, as if we are stupid to believe it.

When its leader is caught with billions in his personal accounts, this fact alone says enough of a party of accomplices, who betray themselves by keeping silent.

Lim has more credibility in his toenail than PM Najib Abdul Razak has in his lifetime.
