YOURSAY | ‘Not too long ago there was a similar ruckus at Najib’s event.’

Scuffle fails to ‘hide’ Najib’s no-show at forum

Was violence intended for Najib as well, asks MCA man

your say1NothingtohideNot Convinced: Who has more to gain from the fracas at the Nothing to Hide 2? Let’s assume that the forum proceeded without any incident.

Mahathir answered a few more ‘tough’ questions. He also took the opportunity to fire a few more rounds against Najib.

What then do you think would be the headlines in the online media? ‘Najib fails to turn up, again’, ‘Dr M fires salvos against an absence Najib’ or ‘No show at Nothing to Hide 2’.

With the fracas, the debate moved from Najib and the 1MDB scandal to the violence, the flying chairs and slippers.

It is clear that Najib and his supporters have more to gain from the conundrum.

Myviews: “Political violence is new and alien to Malaysian politics,” said MCA central committee member Ti Lian Ker.

It’s obvious Ti does not seem to know anything how Malaysians have to endure this kind of apparently orchestrated violence since May 13, 1969.

Every time the ruling party appears to be losing ground, one can be sure that their stormtroopers will be out in full force.

New to you, Ti? Think again.

Bravemalaysian: Ti, since the last time I commented on your statements, you have become increasingly even more sub-standard in your thinking process.

Why not comment on the withdrawal of the unilateral conversion amendment from the Law Reform (Marriage and Divorce) (Amendment) Bill 2016?

You are becoming an embarrassment to your already disgraced party, but now you are a shame to yourself and your family.

People are not stupid, so don’t treat them like they are.

RKR: Ti, do not forget that not too long ago there was a similar ruckus at Najib’s event where a film producer was slapped by a comedian as he was questioning Najib.

So, this culture of violence is synonymous with Umno.

Vijay47: I suppose we can soon expect inspector-general of police (IGP) Khalid Abu Bakar to claim that such events as Nothing to Hide 2 or 3 or 4 are provocations to peace-loving people.

“What do you expect when you hold gatherings where the public’s prime minister is subjected to humiliating questions and comments as though he is a thief and a criminal?”

He would add that this would be the natural outcome when offensive events are organised. Then the Umno intellectuals and that avid supporter from Gerakan (should have included MCA) would sneer that Bersatu holds itself out as defenders of democracy yet cannot handle it when they encounter opposition and freedom of speech.

They will explain that Nothing to Hide 2 is part of Bersatu’s secret agenda to cause civil havoc so that aspersion will be cast on a democratically-elected government.

Similarly, if disturbances break out in Penang, it is only because political cartoonist Zunar insists on holding his insolent exhibitions. And the sun sets on another day in the life of Malaysia.

Neutral Stance: My family and I were once proud MCA life members. Today we don’t even dare to attend party functions because the party has deteriorated to such a state that it cannot recognise truth, integrity and accountability.

All that they spew now is just utter rubbish. I am sure there are many more members who are disappointed with the party.

Versey; Indeed, had Ti kept his mouth shut, people may not know how “empty” his ‘otak’ (brain) is.

Doesn’t he know that upholding law and order is one of the primary responsibilities of the government of the day?

Regardless of Najib’s presence, it is the duty of the government and the relevant agent, the PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police), to ensure the forum’s participants are protected.

Applying Ti’s logic of “Ti also urged the opposition to stop organising forums if it was not able to guarantee the safety of those attending them”, should there be a terrorist attack in some shopping mall or concert, it would be the “shopping mall or concert organisers” fault for “not able to guarantee the safety of the shoppers and those attending them.”

P Dev Anand Pillai: If the PM comes, the whole area will be combed down by the cops so obviously these scare tactics were meant for Mahathir.

When the truth is revealed by former Umno leaders, the current batch will usually respond in this fashion.

With the police, judges, prosecutors, armed forces and the anti-corruption agency in the pockets of the supreme leadership of chosen party, there is virtually nothing that one can do to them except to revolt against them in the streets.

Anonymous_1424794168: If the fracas was planned with PM in mind, then it will be stupid of PPBM (Bersatu) to set it off knowing PM isn’t there, right?

And for the instigator to use three teenagers aged 17, 18 and 19, that is highly irresponsible. They should be taught skill sets to have proper employment contributing to the country rather than being used to go around doing stupid things like this.

Just a Malaysian: Assuming Ti is right, the scenario will be as such. Bersatu set up a group of boys to throw slippers, chairs and flare at Najib if he turns up. But he did not. Only their beloved chairperson was on stage.

Well, since we were prepared anyway and Najib and Umno representatives were not there, why waste the effort. Let’s throw the slippers, chair and flare at our president.
