So Pastor Koh’s abductors apparently good actors
Khalid: Abductors could have learned moves from movies
Anonymous #44199885: This is the most ludicrous statement (that abductors of Pastor Raymond Koh could have learned to mount their operation from watching movies) from the once top cop in the country.
This was an execution of a well-thought-out and rehearsed plan, done probably months in advance. The use of a variety of vehicles is proof of contingency planning for the unexpected – for example, the motorbikes to keep at bay or chase away unwanted or undesired vehicles.
The fact that the police are still unable to find them or obtain any evidence of the perpetrators despite the availability of video footage lends support to the hypothesis that the abductors are either rogue elements of the police or elite military unit, or worse still, a state-sanctioned group.
This display by former inspector-general of police (IGP) Khalid Abu Bakar is nothing short of contempt.
Drngs: Sure, they can learn from movies. I also try to learn football from watching EPL. But I can never be as good as the professionals, unless I train and train.
These people (the abductors) were executing their moves with efficiency and precision. They were professionals, much like uniform units of the government – the police or allied bodies.
Léon Moch: Indeed, lots of things are shown in movies but needs repeated training to acquire the skills shown, especially military and constabulary skills like in this case. Even cooking skills on TV needs practice to produce the same results.
I can also watch on TV the various styles of fighting by Bruce Lee. It doesn’t mean I can execute them like him.
Existential Turd: I, too, have watched plenty of Olympics diving. But I still don’t know how to dive…
Whatsup: Shouldn’t it be the other way around – reel life copying real life? The ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ comes to mind, among others.
It’s really mind-boggling how such person who was the top cop said such things without batting an eyelid?
Unspin: The problem with these bureaucrats is that they think that all Malaysians are stupid. Let’s hope that there will be a proper trial one day and we will see whether he can wriggle out of it without committing perjury.
Anticonmen: From the evasive answers, it is obvious that the former police chief knows a lot and is hiding the truth. What about there being a secret clandestine force?
Vgeorgem: The rakyat expected Khalid to come clean on this incident. He didn’t and it is a lost opportunity for him.
The infiltration of Zamihan Mat Zin-type of extreme right-wingers in the Home Ministry might have resulted in such disappearances. Much-needed reform is required to cleanse the police force.
Another top cop to appear before Suhakam’s inquiry on missing persons
Righteousness4all: Based the narration given, it seems like an uphill task for Suhakam as nothing seems to be coming out despite the actions of respectable Suhakam commissioner, retired Court of Appeal judge Mah Weng Kwai.
I will reclaim my civil rights by casting the right vote at GE14. That’s the least I can do.
Joe Lee: The Christian pastors, whether intentionally or not, were deemed to have crossed the red line in proselytising to Muslims by the fundamentalist Islamic forces of this country.
The message is loud and clear – if you do that, you will disappear. Constitutionally, this is a secular country, but in matters like this, this country is already an Islamic state.
Traditionally, old-style Christians were careful not to risk the wrath of these powerful Islamic forces, but these days there are way too many born-again Christians who think their God can protect them from the power emanating from the Islamic ‘ummah’.
N1: It is obvious that the kidnapping is done by someone the police cannot touch.
Harapan mulls taking ROS to court over registration delay
Kim Quek: Such is the wretched state of democracy in Malaysia that political parties favoured by BN are registered promptly while those disfavoured are simply pushed aside, as illuminated by the following examples:
BN component party Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP), a splinter party from Sarawak National Party (Snap), was registered by the Registrar of Societies (ROS) three days after the parent party Snap was de-registered.
The latter was de-registered on Nov 5, 2002, while SPDP received its approval letter for its registration from the ROS on Nov 8, 2002.
Similarly, the same lightning speed of approval by ROS also occurred to the registration of Umno Baru. The application was made on Feb 13, 1988, while approval was given on Feb 15, 1988.
In contrast, former Pakatan Rakyat’s application for registration had never been approved despite frequently pestering the ROS. Now, Pakatan Harapan has waited for four months for the approval of its application for registration without receiving any response from the ROS.
Isn’t it clear that Umno/BN has been using ROS as its political stooge, turning it into one of its most lethal weapon to crush its political opponents, rendering the Malaysian democracy the laughing stock of the world?
Pemuda Mantan: This is part of the BN government tactics to ensure no other political entities could fight them on a level playing field.
The age-old divide-and-rule strategy is being played out here. In GE13, competing on each component respective logos, the Pakatan Rakyat coalition did well by securing more than 50% of the popular votes.
Now with higher political awareness amongst the people, coupled with increased access and influence of the social media, I think Harapan stands a good chance to do even better than Pakatan in the coming GE14, although they may have to contest under their own respective political logos instead of one single Harapan logo.
Harapan, now led by Mahathir, is appealing to the judiciary to help them – the same judiciary which was emasculated by him when he was PM. How ironic.
