All of sudden yesterday, Suaram was vindicated when the Attorney-General’s Chambers said that it had no case against the human rights NGO. The AG’s Chambers also said it would take no further action in relation to the Registrar of Societies investigations into Suaram.
This is after six months of harassments against Suaram and its staff, its board of directors, the NGOs that supported Suaram and even Suaram’s lawyers as well!
So what happened to this so called Jaringan Melayu Malaysia (JMM) group and all its evidence of foreign intervention and the role of Suaram to destabilise the country?
What also about the instant hero – Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob who said Suaram had committed an offence and would definitely be charged.
What about the controlled, BN-backed media and all their slander on Suaram? Do all of them get away scot free?
On Feb 15, we were told that there was an attempt on Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s life. Later, it was said that indeed there was a threat to the life of South Korean mega star Psy.
What evidence is there and what is the outcome of the investigations? Are all of these just a ploy to bury Najib’s “are you ready for BN” stunt? Is this yet another lie?
On Jan 9, 2012, the day Anwar Ibrahim was cleared of the Sodomy II charge against him, three explosions occurred in the vicinity of the Jalan Duta court complex. Ironically, the police were the first to claim that they were not behind those explosions.
In other countries, some groups will either deny or accept responsibility but here in Malaysia, the police were the first to deny. What happened? Was there any investigation at all? Who planted these bombs and how come it was timed exactly to disperse the crowd? Did the police know about the bombs beforehand?
On June 26, 2011, two buses with Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) members were detained because the police said that they had information there were weapons in the buses. On July 8, police said that they had information that PSM members plan to bomb the police station and a Petronas station in Sungai Siput.
The police brought in a Light Strike Force unit to protect the police station. There were also alerts at the other police stations in Perak.
The police then charged several PSM leaders under the Emergency Ordinance, detained several PSM members for waging war against the Agong and accused PSM of trying to destabilise the country by using foreign elements as well as reviving the Communist Party of Malaya.
Then, suddenly, all the charges were dropped. PSM leaders who spent more than a month in detention without trial were told that there was no case against them. Case closed. What about the weapons in the bus? The bombs? Who lied?
On July 4, 2011, police said they uncovered a stash of weapons, including parang and petrol bombs, that were to be used during the July 9 rally planned by Bersih 2.0. Police also found “two garbage bags with 44 T-shirts with the ‘Bersih’ logo, nicely folded, 20 parangs, 36 Molotov cocktails, 16 lighters and hundreds of metal ball bearings to be used as slingshots”.
The petrol bombs were in plastic mineral water bottles, not glass bottles. So, what happened to this investigation? Who was behind this? More lies!
What about the death of Altantuya Shaariibuu? What about the controlled military munitions – C4 – that was used and who removed all the entries on her movements from the immigration records?
Who commissioned the killing of Altantuya? This is the billion dollar question in Malaysia today and yet the PM goes on as if nothing has happened.
So many questions have gone unanswered. And now, we hear about Lahad Datu and yet again, the government is not explaining anything! Isn’t this an issue of national security?
And what about Siti Aminah Mahmud’s statement that she and her group helped process thousands of identity cards for Sabah illegal immigrants in the early 1990s to help topple the PBS state government. Isn’t this a national security isuue?
The Najib administration has lost all legitimacy to govern the country. This has to end somewhere. PSM calls for the immediate dissolution of Parliament, so that the rakyat can get a fresh choice. The security of the country is at stake! Liars and murderers cannot go scot free.
