Adamant that the MIC is the “mother party of the Indian community” since 1946, party president G Palanivel wants the Indian Affairs Unit under the Prime Minister’s Department to be placed under MIC leadership, and not Hindraf.
As such, he said the unit should not be headed by Malaysian Hindraf Association chairperson P Waythamoorthy who was named deputy minister in the Prime Minister’s Department in the new Cabinet line-up recently.
“The (Indian Affairs) unit must be under the MIC. We cannot have two separate organisations functioning for the same community.
“MIC is the mother party of the Indian community since 1946, and we have been doing a good job, and will continue to eradicate long-standing problems,” he said.
Palanivel noted that the Special Cabinet Committee for Indians under the Prime Minister’s Department, and headed by the MIC, had changed the lives of thousands of Indians, taking them into the mainstream development of the country.
Speaking to reporers after chairing the central working committee meeting at the party headquarters in Kuala Lumpur today, the MIC president said he would meet Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak next week, to bring up issues on strengthening the needs of the Indian community.
Palanivel said the discussion would also touch on the Indian community’s economic agenda.
This needs a serious discussion. I will meet with the prime minister, either on Monday or Tuesday,” he said.
Meanwhile, Palanivel said the MIC would hold private discussions with the People’s Progressive Party (PPP), Indian Progressive Front (IPF),
Makkal Sakhti and all Indian-based parties on ways to empower Indian votes for the Barisan Nasional coalition.
He also announced that Putera MIC coordinator and Education Ministry Deputy Minister P Kamalanathan had been appointed the party’s Indian education council chief.

YB, I don’t agree with you. After Samivelu took over the leadership of MIC nothing good has happened to the Indian community. Now, again you are making a mistake purposely. If the Indian Affairs Unit comes under MIC only you and your cronies will benefit. It is not going to help the Indians. It is better IAU comes under Vethamoorthy. It is Hindraf (Vetha’s group) fought for the Indians. And because of that now you have four Ministers. No! You must let alone Vetha! Let him do something for the Indian community. If he doesn’t do, we know how to handle him!

It is a blessing for Indians having more representatives in the cabinet. Do not spoil this opportunity and we may not get it again. All the representatives should work has a team to do the best for all the Indian brothers and sisters in Malaysia. You have more help now but the goal is only one, all the Malaysian Indians should share the cake equally.

இது வரை ம இ கா இந்தியர்களின் தை கட்சி என்று சொல்லி வந்தது இப்பொழுது மற்ற கட்சிகளின் அதரவை நாடுகிறது .இப்பொழுது எங்கே போனது உங்கள் வீரம் எல்லாம் .கட்சிகளை இணைத்தால் இதற்கு யார் தலைமை .இப்பொழுது வேதமூர்த்தியை பார்த்து இந்திய கட்சி எல்லாம் மிரளுகின்றது .

ம இ கா விற்கு அடுத்த தலைவர் பதவிக்கு நான் தயாராக வில்லை என்று சொல்லும் சுகாதார அமைச்சர் ,அப்படி இருக்கையில் டத்தோ சரவணன் ஏன் துணை தலைவருக்கு போட்டி இட வேண்டும். பேசாமல் இவர் தலைவர் பதவிக்கே போட்டி போட தகுதியானவர் , துணை தலைவருக்கு டத்தோ தேவமணியே சரியான வேட்பாளர் .
