YOURSAY ‘It’s a setback but while we may lose the battle, we will win the war.’

PKr- Rafizi Abasir: Much as we may not see Pakatan Rakyat as the diametrical opposite of Umno and its minions, that is what we have for now. While not perfect, it still is the only bulwark against the many abuses by Umno and cronies.A Pakatan coalition, however fledgling, serves to raise questions, highlight issues and advocate the kind of governance Malaysians deserve.

If Pakatan collapses, the country will rapidly descend into the kind of chaos typical of nearly all Muslim-majority countries.

Homesick: Even if there is a snap poll, I don’t think Pakatan will lose Selangor. People are not stupid and naive.

The only way Pakatan can lose Selangor is people not turning up in full force to vote, as proven in the Teluk Intan by-election. This MB saga is actually a blessing in disguise, in that it separate the wheat from the chaff.

Swipenter: I agree with PKR director of strategy Rafizi Ramli that Selangor MB Abdul Khalid Ibrahim has to go, and if that means losing Selangor, so be it.

What is the point in keeping him when he is seen to have been “turned over” by the other side? The last few months Khalid has been behaving “strangely”. He seems more interested to carry out the work of Umno Baru-BN than the interests of the rakyat.

PAS, too, is a suspect here. They are aiming for the MB’s post even if it means having a shotgun marriage with the devil. But for sure, the minorities would have to face greater pressures in their way of life from this unholy alliance.

Anonymous #85701391: Yes, Rafizi that’s should be the Malaysian way. No elected Malaysian MB or PM should ever think that such post is personal to the holder.

Elected members are recognised by their constituents for the good work to the community and country and honouring them to office as their managers or representatives. Perform and you get re-elected. Otherwise, you get out. That’s the power of democracy.

Gggg: Khalid saved RM3 billion but whether the rakyat or BN is going to benefit from it, only time will tell. Rafizi is right. Table the vote of confidence to identify the snakes in Pakatan.

Do the right thing and come GE14 we will support you. Enough of working with a two-faced political party.

Caesar: Khalid is getting support from Umno and that’s why he is clinging on to the MB’s post and further create crisis in Pakatan and made worse by PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang’s support for him.

If only PAS had gone along with PKR and DAP, then Khalid would have no choice. Pakatan must find ways to resolve the issue without calling snap polls, which will only benefit BN and waste the rakyat’s money.

Fateh: Selangor is the cream of the country, and BN have been desperately trying to snatch it back. Moreover, the current MB has helped accumulated such a massive amount of reserve. It will be like winning a jackpot if they can grab it.

Otakechik: Better to lose the state then losing trust. Here is an opportunity for voters to decide if a BN-led government will give them a better deal.

Sabahan: I totally agree with Rafizi. Whether the rakyat vote for Pakatan in the next GE is not the issue. If Pakatan is not honest, what is the difference between Pakatan and BN?

Removing Khalid is a must, whether it is late or not. Those who say that they will not vote Pakatan because of this is cutting their noses to spite the face.

Voiceless: If Khalid wanted to be corrupt he would have done so from day one and got what he wanted in his first term. Why did he save RM3 billion?

It certainly defies logic that a man of his age and reputation of integrity would manage the state so well in the first term, earned himself all the praises, led the state in a greatly improved victory in GE13, and then suddenly turned rogue three months into the second term (the ‘Kajang Move’ was mooted at that time).

It is more logical to believe that he stood in the way of many people’s ambitions – some want the MB’s post, others to have their hands on the gravy train, etc – and therefore had to be eliminated.

They need a MB who can dance to their tunes, and not care about the welfare of the people.

Anonymous #039163649: So Khalid saved RM3 billion. So what?

It is very easy to show how much money Selangor has – just hold on to all developments funds and money in the government’s coffers will naturally accumulate, and one can earn the reputation of an MB who saved the state a lot of money, but of course at the expense of the people who were shortchanged.

RZC: If PAS cannot agree, so be it. It’s a setback but while we may lose the battle, we will win the war. As for the choice of prime minister, it better not be someone from PAS as they can’t be trusted.

Casey: I’m very much with Rafizi on this. There comes a time when ruse, deceit and defiance must be seen for what they are.

At that point, a crisis, real or perceived, must be directly confronted. In other words, we must show that beyond our resolutions is actual resolve.
