PAS flaying SIS beginning to sound like Isis
PAS Youth flays Sisters in Islam for fatwa challenge
ACR: When the state fatwa committee unilaterally categorised Sisters in Islam (SIS) as a religious deviant group, what recourse does SIS have? They have every right to file for judicial review and clear their name.
Anon1: SIS, initiate defamation action against PAS Youth deputy Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi for the “biadap” (insolent) statement.
How does a challenge against a fatwa go against the royalty and the constitution? A fatwa does not have the force of law. Religious rules do not override state laws.
Proarte: Muslims should confidently challenge PAS to justify its views. PAS must first define what “professing liberalism and religious pluralism” means. SIS must then be given the right to reply as to whether it subscribes to their interpretation.
We cannot let PAS use such broad terms to label others as they could be making false accusations (fitnah) if their interpretation or understanding of the terms is completely different to that of SIS and the rest of humanity.
What is so wrong with being liberal? Is PAS advocating the reverse, which is to be shackled and enslaved either mentally or physically? The etymology of the word ‘liberal’ is derived from the Latin ‘liber’ meaning being ‘free’ from enslavement.
Being a ‘liberal’ then does not mean being ‘free’ to steal, commit murder or fornicate. SIS does not advocate these interpretations which PAS wickedly is accusing it of. Religious pluralism is advocated in al-kafirun of the Quran.
PAS should not distort Islam and give it a bad name.
Kuala Bear: Well done, SIS. I regard SIS as the most credible and respected Muslim NGO in Malaysia. On the other hand, your Muslim brothers are a pathetic lot.
YF: Does Islam practise racism, ban non-Muslims from the use of Arabic words, remain silent in the midst of corruption, backstab alliances, etc? Are these Islamic? Of course not.
Resolve your own liberal tendencies first before removing the speck off SIS. There are more munafiks in your party, Khalil, than there are in SIS (if any).
Anak, Bangsa, Malaysia: PAS is becoming oppressive just like Umno. And Muhammad Khalil, the son of PAS chief Hadi Awang, is talking through his rear end.
Tok Karut: Hadi’s son should have bigger battles than this, but he is doing this for publicity, thinking that he is the “inheritor” of PAS?
Obviously, PAS does not have an internal mechanism to debate these contemporary concerns. Rather, they lash out at NGOs and individuals.
Watch out for the fallout. Is Hadi’s family and camp threatened by the Erdogan faction in PAS? It’s best the liberals and moderates in PAS make a break.
Stried: I assume when readers read this they will naturally say, like father like son.
BTN: The way these regressive people in PAS act, they will soon follow the regressive acts of those people in the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (Isis).
AkuMelayu-tetapi ABU Jugak: How on earth did the royalty get involved in this debate? Hadi’s son is beginning to talk like Umno lapdogs.
Dizzer: How backward do you have to be to reject liberalism and pluralism? They don’t want to face SIS on the religious argument, so they bring in the royalty and the constitution. Alamak, this is so embarrassing for Malaysia.
Hang Tuah PJ: We Selangorian women don’t need you Kelantanese or Terengganu folk to dictate to us what we Selangor Muslim women should do or should not do. We have God-given brains to decide what is best for ourselves.
Malaccan: One wonders initially if Khalil was from PAS Youth or from Umno Youth by his attack on what is just a legal review.
That clears up when he is revealed as Hadi’s son. Hadi who is trying hard to bring PAS back into servitude to Umno. Of course, Khalil would defend what his father is trying to do as he would be a beneficiary.
The Fatwa Council is acting as God’s vice-regent by issuing decrees that cannot be questioned while historically Islam allowed it.
Khalil’s readiness and eagerness to stop Muslims from thinking is in line with what Umno has done with Malaysians. But try as they might, Malaysians and Muslims will not abandon their intellect and mind to be thoughtless puppets manipulated by lesser humans out to protect their personal advantages and interests.
This dress code imposed on all in Kelantan was not forced by early Muslims, but only currently in a way reminiscent of the Talibans. Perhaps they are imposing a new Islam. But then just who would be the true deviant?
Fair Play: I suppose the sons of their respective fathers (Hadi and Tok Guru Nik Aziz Nik Mat) have to fight very hard to remain relevant within their fold.
Hence, taking an extremist right stand about anything Islam and religious practice seems to them the only effective way to champion their cause.
But the truth is that moderate Islam is in real need of protection from these extremist faithfuls who are only capable of taking a hardline stand to the exclusion of everything else.
AJ: Even with a little power, PAS is showing its spots. Gone are days when we used to think that this group of ulama’s views differed from the unintelligent Umno bed fellows. Now there seem to be little difference. We have to have an expiry date on PAS.
Quigonbond: Yet another reason for Pakatan Rakyat to put a deadline to PAS to clean up its house and curtail the recalcitrant ulama. This cannot go on. SIS is trying to save the day and bring us back from the brink. PAS Youth is not helping.
The Analyser: PAS sure does offer Malaysia an exciting and liberated future full of repression and misery.
Supercession: Hadi Awang and his son should just join Umno and then fly off to Syria to link up with Isis.

No matter what I will never trust any muslim or a communist. Both are in the mould- of repression, disregard for human values, sheer inhuman mentality. If PAS is to come to power that will be death knell for free thinking in this country. I just saw it in the TV news that the boko haram has got the kidnapped girls converted forcibly and got them married off–you call that marriage? How sick is their mind?
the west is just watching doing nothing -look what is happening in iraq-syria?ISIS is doing the same -they are worse than any thing to be called human beings– they are supposed to be muslims. What the vast majority of the muslims are doing- virtually nothing and provide tacit approval and help.
