Officer who stole almost RM1mil let off
Boonpou: Time and again, the Accountant General’s Department of Malaysia (JANM) has reported these discrepancies and reports were made to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) but to no avail.
This particular disclosure of a government official embezzling close to RM1 million is not an aberration. Indeed, it’s nothing new.
I am not even talking about the bigger fish that have been plundering our nation. How much longer can Malaysians of all creeds (be it religion, race, gender, etc) tolerate such plundering? Are we, the rakyat, a bunch of passive morons?
Are we not sick of all this plundering that has been going on for way too long? Are we going to keep quiet about it and let it continue?
Ask yourself deeply, what this is doing to you morally, and to the generations yet to come. What are you afraid of? What do you want of Malaysia after you are dead? Do you even care of the generations after you?
NuckinFuts: Stealing millions is okay – it’s the pesky university students the government should crack down hard.
Not Confused: The annual round of the Auditor-General’s Report is with us again. Once again, it clearly demonstrates the total lack of integrity on the part of the government. That a lowly officer can embezzle nearly RM1 million with impunity really says it all.
The leaders of this country care not a jot for such things. Year after year, we witness how the country’s money leaks away into the pockets of just about anyone who can get their hands on it, from the government downwards.
Absolutely nothing is done about it – at least nothing is published to demonstrate how effective they are (or not).
It’s a farce that rolls on annually, and will continue to do so while this BN government continues to rape the country.
Dont Just Talk: The late Teoh Beng Hock was hauled up by MACC for a pittance of RM2,500 and here we have a civil servant who embezzled a sum close to RM1 million but was not charged.
You try doing this in the private corporate sector, you will find a police report lodged even for a few hundred ringgit, let alone a million ringgit.
These are the civil servants that the government produces; low in productivity but high in corruption. The former MCA president was right when he said that the fish rots from the head.
SRMan: The police reports against the fraudster were lodged in March 2011. Three years have passed and a new one is approaching.
Even family members of the late Teoh have commemorated his death anniversary for the fifth time. But still no MACC action against the cheat for an amount 400 times more than Teoh.
Centurion: Perhaps this man is related to some very powerful bigwig Umno warlord?
And yet PM Najib Razak is promoting Malaysia as a regional hub for arbitration. Big deal. Najib will do better to promote Malaysia for “learn how to be corrupt and get away with it”. Appoint the members of the civil service as lecturers.
I am sure, there will be a lot of takers worldwide and invite those corrupt countries to contribute and participate. There is money to be made by the government.
Ericlcc: No action because it was already dealt with by the department’s disciplinary board – only transferred to another “harmless” section. Case closed.
This officer can embezzle more in future. This is how government departments show they have zero tolerance for graft by ‘solving’ the case before it goes to MACC.
Worried Sick: If it was only a minor government officer involved, the whole weight of the police force would have been on him/her. Surely, this is more than that.
Pissed Off: This guy was probably siphoning the money at the instructions of someone higher up and was promised no action, if caught.
Haveagreatday: We hear of government action against PTPTN (National Higher Education Fund) loan defaulters – no, this is not in defence of them – but RM1 million is no small amount.
For the theft of milk powder by a destitute mother at a supermarket, justice was harsh and swift.
Yet, more than three years has elapsed since the misappropriation of funds was discovered and still no action has to be taken against the said officer. This is clearly another case of misplaced priorities by the government.
Ginie: I don’t think only just this officer was involved. There were a few more senior and more influential and more powerful officers above him.
For all we know, he may be a scapegoat. The police and MACC are dragging their feet because they are trying to find ways not to charge them.
Bystander: Today we are talking about denomination in the billions, so RM1 million is not up to the mark yet for MACC to take action.
Mushiro: As usual the Auditor-General’s Report 2013 will rock Najib and BN for two weeks and everything will cool down after that. It is becoming a way of life.
The auditor-general honestly points out the mistakes and weaknesses of the government. Najib and the government just grin and bear with it. Then this is repeated on a worse scale the following year.
Anon1: Of course, he must be let off. The officer and his seniors (BN government servants) must be contributing a lot of votes to keep the regime in power.
How else can the regime remain in office? By paying in whatever manner it takes.
Anonymous_3e86: In China, they would have sentenced the culprit to death. But in Malaysia crime pays.
This is exactly the reason why the rakyat wants BN out of Putrajaya. Year after year, such reports appear in the auditor-general’s reports but yet the big fish always get away. And there are many more cases like this which have yet to be uncovered.
Can BN blame the rakyat for their anger against the government? I am really angry reading this.
Abasir: The AG’s Chambers did not respond to the police investigation team’s recommendation to act? Abdul Gani Patail, being busy with Saiful Bukhari Azlan’s anus, could be the reason.
But why didn’t he at least get Umno’s resident fixer, Muhammad Shafee Abdullah to do something? Or that other fixer who created the false SD (statutory declaration) to protect Najib?
Is the thief related to someone in Putrajaya? Former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad said Selangor Umno is corrupt. Is this thief a member of Umno and therefore immune from all prosecution? So many questions, so few answers.
MrM: I also want to work at the Accountant General’s Department of Malaysia, then I can can get RM1 million and get off scot-free.
