IGP, answer Azmin – are you Umno’s barua?
Just prove to Selangor MB Azmin Ali that you are not a ‘barua’ (lackey) and that you don’t arrest opposition leaders and activists frivolously and on Fridays so that they can spend at least three nights in the lock-ups, and that Umno-BN leaders and supporters are not treated differently.
It’s that simple – just prove it to him.
Pemerhati: Any reasonable person would have asked the IGP the ‘barua’ question. This is because the IGP and his cohorts have been directing their lower rung officers to punish honest and principled members of the public and opposition members who have been protesting and highlight the corrupt practices and wrongdoings of Umno.
The police do this in various ways such as physically assaulting them, calling them up for questioning and then making them wait for several hours or arresting them unnecessarily and remanding them for one or more days and humiliating them by handcuffing them and making them wear purple uniforms and walk barefooted, etc.
They are treating these people, whom 53% of the electorate regards as heroes, like dangerous criminals. In view of such despicable behaviour of the police, the answer to the ‘barua’ question by Azmin is an emphatic ‘yes’.
Now the ‘cowardly’ IGP has ordered his underling lackeys to defend him.
Gen2indian: A fair and accurate comment by Pemerhati. It’s very obvious where the IGP’s priorities lie so there’s no need for Azmin to apologise. He was just stating the obvious.
Not Smart: Respect may be accorded to the ‘position’ of a person, but it is not a must to respect the ‘person’ in that position.
It all boils down to the fact of how the ‘person’ carries out the duties of the ‘position’ he holds. In this case, to the public there had been overwhelming indications showing the person did not carry out his duties fairly and with integrity.
The person’s unfair decisions had also been very glaringly lopsided towards certain groups.
The MB was only verifying if the person’s character was as such and this was confirmed by the crowd. Are all those who said ‘yes’ needed to apologise, too?
Kawak: I don’t know whether the IGP is a lackey of Umno. But I think people made the conclusion based on his selective mode investigation of pro- and anti-Umno members and NGOs where even primary school children can tell the difference.
J Ng: It is immaterial whether ‘barua’ was an accusation or an open statement. Azmin’s comment is directed personally at the IGP.
If Khalid Abu Bakar feels that he is not an Umno ‘barua’, then he should and can take a libel suit against the MB.
Frankly, the unprofessional and biased actions by Khalid are so rampant that in other democratic countries, he would have been sacked a long time ago.
Anonymous_3f4b: Azmin is not fit to be the MB. He has no finesse, political diplomacy and respect for his opponents and institutions of government.
The police will do well to monitor him and place him under close observation from now on. He may have the bureaucratic and political immunity as the chief state executive officer but all good things will come to an end soon.
The Selangor sultan has no choice but to accede to his appointment for want of better candidates among the low quality Pakatan Rakyat representatives and their political problems among themselves.
YF: Strange that even to this day those who had made death threats via an online video were never caught nor investigated, but the Pakatan folks were immediately reprimanded.
Why the bias? It goes to show that the video was a mere political ‘sandiwara’ that certain folks knew was meant to be a diversion to Umno’s woes.
Mushiro: The IGP has crossed the line and exceeded legal and fair policing limits, especially in cases involving Pakatan supporters. He just does not know how to be independent and fair.
He overreacts at super speed to one party and drags his feet when it comes to Umno leaders. Police detention of opposition leaders, activists and participants following the many recent rallies reflect the IGP’s injustice.
Azmin Ali has aptly described the IGP as Umno’s ‘barua’ – there is no need to cry for sympathy.
Anonymous #574625: The IGP is IGP, the police force is police force. If the IGP made a mistake it does not mean the whole police force made the mistake.
RKR: IGP, why don’t you answer Azmin’s question? Why is it that those in Umno cannot answer simple questions?
Negarawan: “Let the law takes it course,” said Khalid.
But the IGP had prevented the law in taking its course in child custody cases, where the non-Muslim parent had been denied justice. So what on earth is the IGP talking about?
