Surely PM not above money-laundering law
Soon thereafter, on March 19, 2013, a bond issue of US$3 billion was raised by Goldman Sachs on behalf of 1MDB.
It is noted from The Wall Street Journal’s report that the funds of US$681 million was remitted in two tranches into PM Najib Razak’s personal bank accounts – US$620 million on March 21 and US$61 million on March 25, barely a week later.
Anonymous #37634848: The “donation” of RM2.6 billion was withdrawn from PM’s personal bank accounts. How was it disbursed? Any idea?
PM not accountable for it? Government integrity not at stake? Rakyat has no stake in it?
What is going on? The “donation” belongs to Umno but its deputy and party supreme council were unaware of it? Why party members are silent on this high-handed action by its president?
Anonymous #07988903: Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli is correct when he said that it takes a sane person to believe that such a donor exists.
But even if he does, it is still questionable that such a large amount of money is deposited in the personal account of a prime minister of a country without any serious political and legal implications.
By the way, a lesser man died over RM2,300.
Bringon14: Here are a few questions for the prime minister – why all this secrecy? If it was money for the party, why is it that your number 2 did not know about it?
This can only mean one thing; possibly corruption at the highest level. That is why the stench of this is so strong that it will not go away. Come GE14 we will serve you your just desserts.
Fair&Just: No one is above the law. Cast the laws at Najib and charge him accordingly (is this what the former attorney-general was trying to do before he was sacked?).
Moreover, such a huge sum of money coming into country was apparently not declared, unlike those who had only a few thousand US dollars but were forced to declare.
Bluemountains: Nothing they say is going to convince the rakyat except producing evidence of the money trail to Singapore and right up to the bank account of the so-called donor.
Otherwise, you are guilty as judged in the court of public opinion.
Low: I will find out reason for MACC transfer
Negarawan: “I don’t know the reason. I am going to find out the reason. I cannot contact anyone tonight. I need to know the reason before I comment,” said Integrity Minister Paul Low.
Does Paul Low have any human dignity in saying this? I would be terribly embarrassed in his position, as a minister of integrity, to portray such incredible ignorance to current events in the country.
The rakyat already know the reason, so please don’t try to read your boss’ script to us. Instead, search deep in your soul, and maybe, just maybe, you’ll still hear that little voice of conscience.
Fairperson: Paul Low, you are the minister in the PM’s Department in charge of integrity and governance and you are denying any knowledge of the transfer?
Either you are pretending or you are a nobody in the PM’s Department to the extent no one bothers to tell you what is happening there.
And for your excuse that the government may have its own reasons for the transfer is ludicrous, bearing in mind the government is not a separate entity without people like you manning it.
You would have been honest if you have said, “I am just a rubber stamp.”
Boiling Mud: Save us this empty talk. If you have lived up to the designation of your job in the PM’s Department, you would have been one of the good people to come out to defend those MACC officers doing their job the moment this madness began.
What took you this long? And do you think you have the courage and integrity to rise to the occassion? Humbug.
Apa Nama: Whether the transfer is right or wrong – and in this case it is wrong – the damage is already done. Are you going to reverse the transfer? Do you have the power to do that?
Najib is now the most powerful man in Malaysia surrounded by his own men and women.
The best you can do is just keep your mouth shut.
2Kali5: 13 hours later and there are 105 comments preceding my comment. Low, I went through all of them and can’t find one in your favour.
Hope you are not blind and illiterate?
