All smoke and mirrors in Umno’s funds
Najib: As deputy, I never questioned party funding
Democracy: PM Najib Razak, so you admit that you were not a good deputy providing check and balance in Umno.
It is an admission that Umno cannot manage its funds transparently, so how can we let them govern our country?
Boiling Mud: Is that how this irresponsible culture of non-accountability bred in the government?
Not questioning the coming and going of party or state funds does not absolve one from crime. Your lame attempt to wriggle out of the situation you created make you look more guilty as days go by and as the ringgit continues to nosedive.
This itself is criminal if not outright treasonous.
Apa Ini?: Nobody, repeat nobody, donate such a sum without promises in the pipeline.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has been crippled in its investigations and the special task force disbanded unceremoniously.
The recent changes at the cabinet level evidently helped move the goalpost on truth over this scandal. All further investigations will be met with huge, insurmountable scepticism. Sad indeed.
Thana55: Najib, you are behaving as though if Umno forgives you, you can go scot free.
May I remind you that there are laws in this land and you are ostensibly guilty of money laundering (transferring US$700 million) and you might have most likely breached the election laws, too.
Add to that, the unaccounted RM21 billions of 1MDB funds. The rakyat are not easily fooled by your diversionary tactics. So get ready.
Anonymous #37634848: It is part of parliamentary democracy to debate issues such as the RM2.6 billion “donation” and clear the air on the matter.
You have, Najib, failed the democratic principles as well as your religious principles. Do you know that you will be asked to account for all this when you finally appear before God?
You cannot hide anything from your Creator. Be warned.
Kuasa Rakyat: So, what it means is don’t ask questions.
If that’s true, then at the moment, no one really knows whether there are other “trust” accounts under Najib’s personal name (actually I believe trust accounts are not under someone’s personal name) and how much money have flowed through these “trust” accounts. Millions? Billions?
Real Truth: Najib, when you were DPM, there was no 1MDB which borrowed RM42 billion and paid RM560 million as commission.
You received RM2.6 billion in your personal bank accounts and did not reveal to anyone about the source. Only when exposed, you said it was donation. Is it wrong to ask you about the source as it affect the party?
There were ongoing investigations by a special task force under you, the Public Accounts Committee as well as the MACC, all of which have since gone astray.
Indeed, several members of investigation have been afflicted with strange medical conditions, thus rendering them ineffective.
Hang Babeuf: Najib said “as deputy, I never questioned party funding.” Well you damned well should have!
And if you did not, what makes it okay for you now to ask others to remain silent, compliant, complicit in wrongdoing?
But you are happy nonetheless to be the PM of a nation of “blind-eye turners” (tutup mata sebelah) – and wink with the other.
If you get things your way, what a nation of moral nullities you will have the honour to lead…
Speaking Sense: When I was deputy, I never questioned anyone. Fortunately, I could have some trust in what the president was doing. Maybe my former deputy does not have the same trust.
Do you think he may have good reasons for that?
Yawkwai: Dear PM, how do you know that during Mahathir’s times, all his DPMs never questioned Umno’s political funding? Or could it be there was none because during their tenure they did not need to seek donations. They had plenty in reserves.
As for you, you spent it all and then apparently decided to take a “loan” and now the rakyat have to pay your debt. You can’t even service your own party, so you beg for “donations”.
Appum: Did the delegates ask you if money was ever put into any PM’s private bank account? If not then, sad to say, they are all intellectually-challenged.
Basically: Even if everyone chooses to play dumb, surely the Registrar of Societies (ROS) rules require complete disclosure?
Or does ROS have a different set of rules for Umno? Other parties like DAP had to go through hoops just because of one single data entry error that was even audited?
