YOURSAY | ‘Arul, stop putting words into people’s mouth and don’t exaggerate.’

Who is lying on probe – MACC or 1MDB?

MACC: We never said 1MDB was free of investigations

yrayaruland1mdp Res Ipsa: To those who had been following the press conference of attorney-general (AG) Mohamed Apandi Ali in clearing 1MDB, they will agree that it was a lightning quick and hurried press event.

Once the AG had completed his statement, he refused to take any questions from the press. What is the difficulty in answering questions if the AG really stood by his decision that no offence was committed by 1MDB?

In reality, it appeared as if he was the counsel engaged to defend 1MDB. Instead of addressing the pertinent question as to why 1MDB deviated from the conditional approval given by Bank Negara, the focus of the AG was on why the central bank did not follow up with 1MDB on the so-called inaccurate or incomplete information given by 1MDB when seeking approval to move funds abroad.

Let’s now await the response from Bank Negara on this issue which is expected to shake the credibility of the AG.

In the meantime, it would be best if 1MDB CEO Arul Kanda and co cease making baseless conclusions or keep doing something which is termed as ‘syiok sendiri’.

CQ Muar: Arul, stop putting words into people’s mouth and don’t exaggerate. Your inability to read between the lines revealed how shallow your knowledge is.

Now that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had made its point and reiterated it will continue to investigate, stop living on cloud nine and make an absolute idiot of yourself.

When this issue draws to a justifiable conclusion, you will receive your just dessert alongside Najib. For that, the whole nation will celebrate the occasion.

Odin Tajué: Very good, MACC. Now, when are you going to summon PM Najib Razak to your office to be questioned?

Summon to your office, understand? Not you going to Putrajaya. When you said you were going to do that, dinosaurs were still roaming this planet, and Adam and Eve were still unaware of their nakedness.

And what have you got from former SRC International managing director Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil?

Why wasn’t Interpol requested to put out a red alert notice on him instead of you fellows having to go to where he is hiding? In Indonesia, isn’t it? Or is it Mongolia? Or Kazakhstan?

Roger 5201: Indeed, Arul is presumptuous and jumping the gun again as usual. Why does one get the feeling the National Audit Department will again find no wrongdoings in 1MDB despite its forensic audit?

Birdseye: Can any of the investigations confirm the allegations of corruption and money laundering? I doubt it.

All that can be concluded is perhaps certain i’s were not dotted and certain t’s were not crossed. When announced with great fanfare, 1MDB will perform another victory dance. Then what?

The overseas investigators are far more important, in my opinion. They must piece together the jigsaw puzzle and what happened to the monies that are allegedly missing from International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC).

True, 1MDB cannot be responsible for how IPIC dealt with the payments made to them. It is where the money went that is far more important. If money was transferred back to Singapore and got frozen, why?

Discovery: MACC and PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) are playing musical chairs but the AG stop the game. Or so he thought.

In short, none of these agencies have the balls to do what is right.

Mosquitobrain: MACC, IGP and AG. A three-cornered fight? MACC said 1MDB was being investigated by police. Inspector-general of police (IGP) Khalid Abu Bakar said he is waiting for AG’s directives. So very confusing.

1MDB claims it’s no longer under probe, absolved

Kookie: All those who keep insisting that 1MDB has been cleared of any wrongdoing clearly don’t understand the issues at hand.

Firstly, did 1MDB violate and Bank Negara rules, and secondly, what happen to the money? MP Tony Pua is not addressing the first issue. He is addressing the second issue because it pertains to public funds.

Wg321: Pua made serious criminal accusations against 1MDB, such as there are “clear-cut evidence” of “criminal breach of trust, abetting misappropriation and embezzlement”. What is 1MDB waiting for?

Just go ahead and sue Pua. If Arul is afraid to sue him, then make a police report – and that means Pua is telling the truth.

Mushiro: 1MDB is hungry for some good news and they were very quick to accept the Attorney-General’s Chambers’ refusal to prosecute the company despite investigation papers handed over to it by Bank Negara as an indication that they have not committed any offence.

Never mind all the evidence and the fact that even 1MDB cannot disprove that the RM42 billion is almost gone, and the request by the Conference of Rulers that a transparent investigation be carried out, 1MDB has chosen the most convenient way out for them – believing the unbelievable AG.

God Save Us: Who is issuing these public relations statements for 1MDB? If there is some semblance of accountability, have the courage to furnish a name to these statements.

Hiding behind a compliant AG’s Chambers and a government-controlled and appointed investigatory authority into its own wrongdoings doesn’t increase their credibility an iota. In fact it adds to the nausea.

Sali Tambap: Well, MACC has just issued a statement saying that it had never said the state-owned fund was free of any probe.

“MACC in its media statement on Sept 22 never said 1MDB was not being investigated,” said 1MBD.

So, now who is lying – MACC or 1MDB? And whose word should we take us as the truth?
