YOURSAY | ‘The blame game will never save Malaysia, righting previous wrongs will.’

But Rafidah, your party is all about race and religion

Wrong to mix religion, race with politics, says Rafidah

YrsRafidahVersey: Former minister Rafidah Aziz is absolutely correct to say that race and religion should never mix with politics.

Politicians who truthfully wish to bring harmony and prosperity to the nation should focus on good governance, bearing in mind to uphold law and order regardless of race, religion or the people’s station in life.

Corruption and abuse of power is a definite no.

Swipenter: Politics pervades race and religion in Bolehland. It is known as ‘ketuananism’.

From education to business, to jobs opportunities to official policies, to places of worship to purchase of houses, to almost every aspect of our lives.

Politics, race and religion are all rolled into one, starting from the BN administration in the 1970s.

It is like our three-in-one shampoo. Plain shampoo is quite impossible to find nowadays, much like our politics without the ingredients of race and religion thrown into it.

Umno-BN is all about politics of race and religion; not just about issues and policies confronting Bolehland.

KSN: Yes, Rafidah, please tell that to all our clowns who mix race and religion with politics.

It is time for the Malays to wake up and tell the racial, religious politicians to get lost. Malays being the majority should take the lead on this most important matter.

Many among them have already realised that we are all Malaysians, and politics of race and religion should have no place in our lives. Those two matters are individual concerns.

Anonymous #45522856: Why is it that after you are no more in power that you are raising this issue?

You certainly didn’t say anything when former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad went about destroying our institutions.

Mojo Jojo: Rafidah, did you hit your head against the bed when you woke up this morning? What did you do when you were Umno Wanita chief and trade minister?

Anonymous 2413201460529218: Yeah, right. Coming from one who headed a wing of a racist party for umpteenth years and is now portraying herself to be all goody and saintly. Truly laughable.

Anticonmen: Rafidah was part of the regime that had reneged on and dismantled the articles in the original 1957 constitution, which stipulated equality for all as well as freedom of religion, assembly and speech.

Alex Raj: Well, well, well. I can’t believe my ears. However, there is no time limit for repentance.

6th Generation Immigrant: Mahathir, the inadvertent architect of today’s heartache in Malaysia (due to meddling of a tested and working constitution in order to socially engineer and make supreme a specific race), should regather his former cabinet colleagues to form a shadow cabinet to right all the wrongs, together with all current loyal rakyat Malaysia.

Together, we can point out today’s wrongs and why the constitution was never meant to be exploited in this very bad way. Surely with hindsight, we know where we have gone wrong since 1970.

Malaya had been a multi-ethnic, multi-religious, multicultural land for centuries. We have destroyed this. We played God and lost.

But the blame game will never save Malaysia, righting previous wrongs will.

Sakit Hati Ku: Rafidah, if you have such a strong conviction of not mixing religion and race in politics, why do you not speak up at the platform with those who stand on the right side of history… like the repented Mahathir?

I once despised him, but I was wrong. We are all God’s children, we all have sinned, so to forgive is divine. Whatever Mahathir’s motives, he is doing something good now.

Lamps: Yes, Rafidah was a six-term Kuala Kangsar MP. She should go and join Dr M to campaign in Kuala Kangsar. No point giving hints.

Odysseus: Since you are against what’s being done by BN, are you prepared to make a stand to right the wrong?

Inworldnotof: It’s not enough for Rafidah to state the obvious. Go to the ground.

Talk about honest hard work with equal opportunities for all so meritocracy and healthy competition bring out the best in every of our young ones regardless of colour or creed, so that they have the satisfaction of growing up into confident adults with dignity because excellence is attained on a level-playing field.

Do. Enough of pontification.

Dr Suresh Kumar: This has-been AP (approved permit) queen is trying to stay relevant to back her racist mentor, Mahathir.

These are the people who supported Mahathir’s ‘ketuanan’ policies that defiled our forefathers’ vision of an egalitarian society with impunity when they were in power that led to the present day chaos.

Anonymous #70881335: Race and religion cannot and should not be mixed with politics. It’s dangerous. Once out of control, there is no going back.

Mr KJ John: Rafidah, please resign from Umno; only then they will listen.
