Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the dirtiest of them all?
Rahman: Guan Eng’s arrest shows DAP not so clean after all
Odysseus: You are so right, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Abdul Rahman Dahlan.
A DAP leader is under arrest. So they are not clean, after all. Not a single Umno leader has been arrested for the 1MDB scandal, but the whole world is talking about it.
Many countries have launched their investigations. Singapore has even charged a few men in court. Yet, no one in Malaysia is implicated.
Are you trying to tell everyone that Umno is the cleanest party in the world?
Oxymoronictendencies: Abdul Rahman clearly has selective vision. DAP may not be clean; but compared to his boss and Umno, DAP leaders are veritable angels.
Clearly, Abdul Rahman is prepared to ignore the alleged theft of US$1 billion by tycoon Jho Low; and clearly – as the government has no intention to do anything about it – the theft is condoned and even abetted by the most senior members of the government, including the PM himself.
This move against Lim Guan Eng (LGE) is purely another political stun and a witch hunt, much like the jailing of former opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim.
Najib should not get too comfortable though. With every political stunt he pulls, he further adds to the forces that are massing against him and the tipping point is getting closer by the day.
His Umno acolytes like Abdul Rahman should be wary. They are brazenly ignoring reality in some misguided belief that his boss and he are safe from the reach of the law.
Today they are, but nothing lasts forever.
Anonymous 1890491455255851: This is new – a competition of who can be the dirtiest politician.
Abdul Rahman is relieved, he says. Well, most of us Malaysians have yet to have the benefit of feeling the same, seeing that the biggest crooks in the country are still at large.
Gaji Buta: So that’s the point of all this – to justify the biggest robbery, corruption and abuse of power scandal in our history, allegedly by your leader?
Anonymous#007: DAP, together with PKR, has been instrumental in bringing to light the multi-billion ringgit 1MDB and Scorpene corruption scandals and the Altantuya Shaariibuu murder.
All these cases involve Najib. The Wall Street Journal, former MCA chief Ling Liong Sik and several other organisations and leaders have claimed gross mismanagement of taxpayers’ monies under Najib’s stewardship.
Penang CM Lim Guan Eng’s arrest for this pitiful reason (relative to the scale of evidence and amount involved in the Scorpene and 1MDB corruption/murder scandals) was not altogether surprising.
The arrest shows only one thing: the rakyat need to vote in new ruling parties if we want to get to the bottom of these scandals that have cost taxpayers billions of dollars and several innocent lives.
Negarawan: Abdul Rahman is a man without any integrity and honour. He has completely lost all his credibility ever since the Lester Melanyi debacle, where evidence and fictitious characters were concocted in an attempt to discredit the editor of Sarawak Report.
Surely a person who proposes that the rakyat wake up at 5am to avoid toll charges is not fit to be a minister.
He is an epitome of hypocrisy when he accuses DAP of being unclean. LGE gave his fullest cooperation to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) during its investigations, even subjecting his family home to media scrutiny.
On the other hand, Abdul Rahman is completely silent on his superior’s audacious attempts at impeding investigations and suppressing evidence in the 1MDB and RM2.6 billion scandal, which has severely damaged the international reputation of Malaysia.
Where is Abdul Rahman’s own transparency and accountability?
Worldly Wise: The unconstitutional removal of Abdul Gani Patail as attorney-general without cabinet approval, the imprisonment of Anwar Ibrahim for five years, openly bribing voters, suppressing dissent, and not charging a top person when billions of ringgit were found in his personal bank account, all leave a poor taste in my mouth.
Lamborghini: Abdul Rahman, you can piously say, “It is my hope that the MACC will carry out their duty without fear and favour like they always do. And eventually this will bring us the truth and justice.”
Just look at what happened to the MACC officers who were probing the 1MDB case. The fearless ones have resigned, retired and died. Only the ‘yes men’ remain to do the bidding of the higher authorities.
In this holy month, please don’t talk rubbish.
Rupert16: Yes, Najib and Jho Low should be in front of the queue to be charged in court if MACC has acted without fear or favour.
But we all know how toothless it is, being controlled by Najib.
