Yoursay: Which part of ‘interim’ PM does PAS not understand?
Dr M’s iron fist will grow in size if he is PM again, warns PAS researcher
Ryan: Why are you so afraid when former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad is already 92 years old? Do you think Mahathir would wield his iron fist for another 10 years if he becomes prime minister again?
PAS research centre director Mohd Zuhdi Marzuki, please do your research on how long a human can live.
VGV: Hello Zuhdi, there is no need to talk about how Mahathir’s iron fist would grow if he becomes the PM again.
The future would, in fact, be brighter than the present moment. If you want to compare notes with Mahathir, it would be very much better than Prime Minister Najib Razak’s administration, that has seen bad governance and corruption among its top leaders.
If Pakatan Harapan takes over Putrajaya, there would not be enough space in Kajang prison for them all.
Jaguh: Doesn’t this man understand what an interim PM is? Once PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim is out of jail, all would change. This is PAS for you… nothing but scare tactics.
Anonymous 788831449650206: Mahathir has also done much good in his time which compensated for his ‘iron’ rule. In any event, he has already said he will only be PM till Anwar is pardoned.
Royal Salute 21Y: We are not worried, Mr Director, but you should be. What can be worse than being ruled by the current bunch of kleptocrats?
When the Iron Fist comes into power, the second thing he would do after disposing of the thieves is to come after the ‘pak lebai’ like you.
Anonymous 444981488553970: Yes, may Dr M’s fist be big enough to catch all the leaders and all the cronies who had plundered 1MDB, and all those in government agencies and GLCs (government-linked companies) who had pocketed all the rakyat’s billions and millions into their bank accounts.
Hplooi: Is this the kind of ‘analysis’ this researcher can produce? If the intellectual arm of PAS can produce this, imagine what would happen if PAS ever comes to power, whether directly or indirectly.
Granted that Dr M created power centres and diminished checks and balances, it must be remembered that this occurred in the context of the warlord system created by his predecessors such as former premiers Abdul Razak and Hussein Onn.
The worse thing that can happen is the continuation of the existing Umno-led system without any kind of reboot. The next Umno PM would have learned from the example of the current PM.
Commandeering of national resources would be seen as a right by the Umno kleptocrats. The morality would be “if the previous did it and is still feted, there is nothing wrong in upping the ante”, and so on.
Key lessons from the Najib era would be measures to protect power even with diminishing popular support.
The reboot I am talking about is not even on the table of Umno and PAS. And Zuhdi is already pontificating that a Dr M-led opposition would go down the path of dictatorship?
Falcon: Why are you worried about this, Zuhdi? It’s none of your business. We are more afraid of PAS’ version of reformasi, and we know what that is all about. I have no worries about Dr M – period.
Samurai: Yes, talk about dictatorship and iron fist, who was it who ran the progressives out of PAS for asking uncomfortable questions?
Who was it who told everyone not to question the ulama and syura council, and not to even question or raise the RM90 million allegation during the party’s annual meeting (muktamar)? And most tellingly, not to debate the 1MDB scandal?
Just because the dictatorial calls are peppered with lines from the Quran does not make it legitimate. Or is that PAS’ version of democracy?
Hang Babeuf: The brains of the PAS leadership turn increasingly to sand and mud the closer they get to Umno. This Zuhdi dolt is a prime example of that fact, of that process.
Tekad: If Mahathir becomes PM again, PAS will become a mosquito party, that’s why they are so worried.
Wira: Remember Mahathir stepped down voluntarily before when he felt he was no longer wanted?
That is good enough for all of us because at least he is someone who has a sense of honour and integrity, not like MO1 (Malaysian Official 1) who has the worst support in the history of Malaysian PMs and yet still clings to the job because he knows he could be heading to Sungai Buloh if someone else were to rule the country.
AJ: What do these people at the PAS research centre do? Compare drying times of different paints?
Taking a backward step from English was the beginning of the end for Malaysia. It gave rise to less than mediocre students, gave birth to a second-rate workforce, caused a brain drain, gave rise to radicalisation and Arabisation, emboldened religious groups opposing legitimate progress, fed the notion that Malays studying Malay or Islam didn’t have to excel or compete with rest of the world, and demonised the West for being better.
This was why Mahathir and the Johor royals tried to reverse it. But the dullards in those who are in control, including PAS, won’t let it happen for the fear they will be made obsolete.
They just want to grow the mediocre or less.
Anonymous_1421806811: I wonder what he researches for PAS? People going to heaven if they vote for PAS, perhaps?
He sounds more like a propagandist. Anyway, who believes PAS except for their blind followers, and their numbers are dwindling every day.
