YOURSAY | An alleged Muslim ‘crook’ as PM or an honest PM of whatever race?

Yoursay: Hadi is suffering from DAP-phobia

Hadi urges rejection of DAP gov’t as ‘not clean’, ‘non-Muslim’

Kim Quek: The political bankruptcy of Umno has already been amply demonstrated by the recent Umno general assembly which seemed to have been transfixed by the fear of the country being over-run by DAP with Lim Kit Siang over lording all.

Does any sensible Malaysian really believe in such shocking nonsense? I think not.

Now, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has belatedly jumped onto the same Umno bandwagon, singing the same tune, as if he doesn’t want to be left out of the fun.

Considering both Umno and PAS are the two largest Malay-Muslim parties, which until recently had exerted powerful pull on the Malay electorate, their current confluence on such a silly notion does present an interesting scenario.

Have such political talks increased the Malays’ fear of DAP, and by extension, alienating them from Pakatan Harapan? Or do they disbelieve such talks, causing them to disdain Umno-PAS for resorting to such dishonest and low-down propaganda?

Peninsular Rhino: A Muslim scholar like Hadi should know better than to spread lies and slander. He said Kit Siang has aspirations to become PM of Malaysia without providing any evidence.

For his information, there’s nothing in the Federal Constitution that says only Muslims can be PM. Hadi would rather have an alleged Muslim thief as PM than an honest PM of whatever religious affiliation.

Hadi need not worry about a non-Muslim being elected PM because it is the will of the ruling party to decide on who takes up this role.

Pencuri: Yes, we want a Muslim candidate to the prime minister who is not tainted by corruption scandals. What is the use of a Muslim PM if he is a corrupt Muslim?

David Dass: What Hadi says goes against the Constitution. There is nothing in the Constitution that says Islam must be in power – whatever that means. Secondly, there is nothing in the Constitution that says that a non-Muslim cannot be prime minister.

All accept the reality that only the majority Malays will decide who rules the country and who becomes prime minister. There may come a point in time when the race or religion of the prime minister becomes irrelevant and Malaysians simply choose the best person for the job.

But that is not now. The Malays will always have a substantial say in the administration of power in Malaysia. In addition, the Malay rulers have powers under the Constitution to protect the position of Islam and Malays.

There is therefore absolutely no reason for Malays to feel insecure about their position. All the levers of power are controlled by the Malays.

Penang and Selangor are controlled by the opposition. There is no evidence that the Malays are being sidelined in those two states.

Victor Johan: This role of Hadi is akin to former PAS president cum Kelantan Mentri Besar Mohd Asri Muda in the 1970s when Asri had aligned himself and his party with then Umno president Abdul Razak Hussein.

Abdul Razak saw that his Umno party and the Alliance coalition were losing the support of the rakyat, and he decided to form a unity government which he had called Barisan Nasional, or National Front.

Asri was enriched financially and was made a federal minister. Several of the other leaders within PAS soon saw and understood the ploy of this Razak-Asri partnership, which was weakening the party as corruption crept into PAS.

Asri was eventually sacked as PAS president and the party pulled out from BN. The PAS-Umno partnership gave rise to a new political party, Berjasa, which split from PAS and ruled Kelantan for about a year. But Umno eventually took over the state in the 1978 general election.

It wasn’t until 1990 when Tok Guru Nik Aziz Nik Mat led PAS to win back the state by working with Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah’s new party, Semangat 46.

Tekad: The only and real reason Hadi is against DAP is that when PAS was in Pakatan Rakyat, DAP was steadfast in proposing Anwar Ibrahim to be PM should Pakatan manage to capture Putrajaya.

When Anwar was jailed, Hadi had hoped that DAP would nominate him to be a prospective PM but DAP stuck with Anwar.

It was reported that PAS had wanted Razaleigh to be PM instead of Anwar, and it was clear that PAS was never agreeable to Anwar to be PM but was hoping to get Hadi nominated, which was opposed by DAP.

Hplooi: This is vintage Hadi. The essence of which was first distilled more than three decades ago in Amanat Hadi. The core idea of this doctrine, which is the same doctrine of the Wahhabist sect of Islam, is that Muslims and non-Muslims are fundamentally unequal.

The logic demands that people who do not subscribe to God (or at least their version) must be unclean or evil and therefore do not… no, cannot… enjoy full equality in the state.

Malaysians should therefore be supremely concern – and be very, very afraid – as this Wahhabist clique enjoys inordinate power and influence in Malaysia.

CQ Muar: Hadi is so obsessed with his hatred and fear of DAP that he has virtually lost his sense of judgement.

What makes this man think the country will be ruled by DAP  should Harapan win in the next election? What DAP government is he harping about, anyway?

Hadi is suffering from DAP-phobia that he keeps insisting that this country must be ruled by Muslim leaders.

CucuMalaysia: If I were a true Muslim and a member of PAS, I would be so shameful having a party leader like him and would rather resign from the party.

When an ustaz can spread lies and have so much anger and hatred towards other races and practitioners of other faiths, he is a lousy representative of Islam.
