YOURSAY | This reminds us of the feudal age, where kings and queens enjoy a decadent lifestyle.

Yoursay: So PM’s wife now entitled to use gov’t jet?

Don’t slander Rosmah over jet ride, Dr M told

Clever Voter: We live in the age of transparency and accountability. Elected representatives are public officers, and they are entitled to certain privileges when carrying out their duties.

Prime Minister Najib Razak should be advised of this protocol, and that his wife is entitled to accompany him but it would not be right for her to use the government aircraft alone.

This reminds us of the feudal age, where kings and queens enjoy a decadent lifestyle, through taxes collected from the poor. History reminds us that such exploits invite many troubles from the people.

Decency and humility are what we expect.

Anonymous 2436471476414726: What’s so important about the Permata award in Istanbul? If PM’s wife Rosmah Mansor’s schedule was indeed tight, someone else in Permata could have collected the award.

The award presentation did not warrant travel by private jet. It was pure wastage and showed lack of empathy with the suffering of the ordinary rakyat.

The rakyat, including former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad, have every right to criticise such wanton wastage. This is not ‘fitnah’ (slander).

Public officials, including their immediate family members, are not immune to criticism when their actions, or inaction, show total lack of concern for the welfare of the rakyat.

By the way, Rosmah’s aide Rizal Mansor, you must have read about President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) travelling to Singapore on economy class when he had to attend his son’s convocation.

That’s the exemplary example shown by a leader who is truly ‘berjiwa’ rakyat.

Just a Malaysian: Singapore, a much richer and more successful country than Malaysia, does not have any private jet. Its PM takes commercial flights using Singapore Airlines (SIA).

I was on the same plane as Goh Chok Tong once. He was late for 15 minutes and he made a point to apologise to other passengers. Such is how a leader should carry oneself.

He does not have to draw his sword and threaten any race. He does have to recite holy versus by the mouthful, nor be dressed to look holy. He needs no long titles or string of awards.

He is just a simple honest civil servant doing his best for Singapore.

Wira: Is the wife of a sitting PM entitled to the use of government jet when she is not accompanied by her husband? That never happened before.

I wonder who approved this?

Freethinker: I rent a car for RM800 per day. I drove eight hours to my destination and eight hours later I drove back and returned the car.

In total, I only drove 16 hours and remaining eight hours, the car was left idle at the parking lot. Rizal, going by your logic, I can keep the car for another eight hours of driving?

Does a ‘parked’ aircraft not face charges? What a funny logic.

Pink diamond suit: Court rules no need for Jho Low to appear

Shunyata: Sigh! An entire nation pines for the mere sight of the elusive cherubic boy, yet all we have of this entity of supposedly unimaginable wealth are a few rare sights of his glistening ivory vessel, skirting along our shores with its one minute there and next minute gone elusive.

With the powers of the Attorney-General’s Chambers refusing us the opportunity to have Peach Faced Boy manifest before us, could it be… could it just be, that an entire nation had conjured up the image of this non-existing being as a mechanism to cope with our increasingly dire circumstances and debilitating resources?

Could it be, perhaps, that an entire nation has gone mad? This, and more perplexing theories in ‘The Legend of the Ivory Vessel: A Malaysian Sighting’.

Kangkung: Everything connected to Malaysian Official 1 (MO1) has either the tag of “evidence was lacking” or “not supported by strong evidence” so the court cannot accept it.

However, when it involves opposition leaders, the flimsiest of evidence is enough to drag the person to court. Is High Court judge Ahmad Zaidi Ibrahim trying to say the US Department of Justice (DOJ) is lying?

Mosquitobrain: You can call me a pessimist but the truth hurts. As long as MO1 is still in power, there will be no way to bring this phenomenal Jho Low back to Malaysia to answer the 1MDB mega money laundering scandal.

Apa Ini: Why does one get the feeling that this alleged crook is an even more powerful Malaysian than the PM/MO1? An untouchable, at least in Bolehland.

Well, maybe, judges here cannot reach him, but he best keeps away from the streets of Malaysia because ordinary folks will spit in his face if he’s spotted here.

Anonymous 788831449650206: Loan defaulters in the thousands are let off. Petronas money is given to managers and staff of government-linked companies (GLCs) operating franchises as salaries and commissions.

The profitability of the business does not matter. Many Malays are happy. They do not mind that the country is going down.

FlabberPro: I hate to know that my hard-earned money goes to someone else’s diamond instead of the rural poor. It makes my blood boil!

And the judiciary seems okay with this? Not bringing the alleged criminals to the questioning dock to be made accountable for their mismanagement and misappropriation of funds entrusted to them?

Tommy: Why are all servants of justice doing the opposite?
