German Businessman ok, but not stateless Indians

– Senator S. Ramakrishnan,  June 5, 2012.

In was reported in the media that the prime minister offered permanent residence status to a German businessman on the spot upon request. The German lived in Malaysia for the past five years and made the request during the prime minister’s dialogue session with investors.

While we welcome more investment to flow into the country, there are also about 4 million legal and illegal workers in Malaysia. Millions from Indonesia who land on Malaysian shores illegally have become citizens within short periods. But 100000 over Malaysian Indians either born or residing in Malaysia before independence are denied citizenship by the BN government. Why the double standard Mr. Prime Minister?

Since becoming prime minister in 2009 Datuk Najib has promised to resolve the Indian’s citizenship problem. An Indian task force was created for this purpose. But till date only about 2500 Malaysian Indians have received blue identity. The recipients are all elderly people who have suffered all these years without citizenship. To these people citizenship at this stage of their life is of little use except for medical help in local hospitals.

There are many children and youngsters born in Malaysia still holding red identity card. Why the drag and delay in processing citizenship for Malaysian Indians but for German businessman it was on the spot decision. Why the double standard sir? Malaysian Indians are voters whom you are trying to win them over. But your administration is refusing to provide citizenship. Is it because you only want the Indian votes but not willing to provide equal rights to them? Please change the divide and rule policy Mr PM.

An attempt to submit citizenship application to the prime minister’s office by PKR leaders recently was sabotage by MIC youth. Gangsters were deployed to block the PKR leader’s submission and these gangsters started a fracas in which PKR members were injured. UMNO uses MIC youth gangsters to dent and deny the demand for Indian right to citizenship. With MIC around Malaysian Indians don’t need enemies. They will help UMNO to keep Malaysian Indians downtrodden and stateless. They are UMNO stooges and not Indian representatives in BN.

Malaysian Indians are given false promises of citizenship just to win over the Indian votes. We need a political solution to this problem. Under the BN regime UMNO will never accept Indians getting more rights. Indians need a regime that provides equal opportunity and equal rights. Indians should not ever accept the denial of citizenship by UMNO/BN government. We are not second class or third class citizens to UMNO. For that to happen we need to dump UMNO and their cohorts once and for all. Malaysians have equal voting rights to bring about a more equitable and fair government.  It’s now or never.

JPN officers put to shame

It’s a known fact that most Malaysian born Indians were denied of their citizenship rights since the 70’s till to-date and MIC did nothing to solve this issue.

I have seen recently an Indian youth in his 30’s with his mother at the JPN office asking for an explanation as to what has happened to his mother’s citizenship application that he submitted in the year 2002,resubmitted in 2008 and again in the year 2010!

The answer given by the JPN officer was, “masih dalam pertimbangan kerana ibu awak kurang baik cakap Bahasa Malaysia dan ta’boleh tulis Bahasa Malaysia dengan betul”.

There were eleven Indons hanging around the same vicinity holding blue MyKad who have entered Malaysia illegally in the year 2009 who could hardly speak and write Bahasa Malaysia with another batch of Indons waiting to collect their MyKad!!

This Indian youth challenged the JPN officer to request these Indons to sing our patriotic song Negara Ku, to explain and recite the principles of our Rukun Negara. The JPN officers were dump founded!!

This young Indian youth without any hesitation, and neither was asked, brought his mother forward in front of these JPN officers and requested his mother to sing our Negara Ku and recite the 05 principles of Rukun Negara!

Surprisingly but with a slight hesitation, she sang our Negara Ku well and recited our Rukun Negara,  putting all these Indons and those responsible for approving their MyKad to shame!!!

What qualification does she need at the age of 68 when she can still speak Malay that is understandable to all other Malaysian, able to sing our Negara Ku and recite our Rukun Negara!!!

Arn’t these qualifications good enough from a 68 years old Malaysian born Indian lady for the JPN officers to approve her application?

Discrimination of the highest degree

There is also another case i would like to point out from Tanjong Malim . This Indian man born in Malaysia in the 40′s . All his brothers and sisters hold blue IC except him . He was jailed for 6 months when he was 23 years old because he was found with some stolen goods . Now he is 65 years old and the government has sent him a letter rejecting his application saying that his ” kelalukan kurang baik”. He has no other bad records since then but his application is still not considered probably due to the same old reason.

The question now is , has this man got to suffer a sentence of more than 45 years for a small mistake hid did when he was a youth ? Are all those Indonesians given Blue IC came with a clean Police Record ? This is what I call discrimination of highest degree towards the Indians in this country , a BN policy .
