SUARAM calls for a peaceful protest against the amendments in the Prevention of Crime Act (PCA) which resurrects back the detention without trial.
The first reading of the Prevention of Crime (Amendment and Extension) Bill 2013 on 25 September 2013 in Dewan Rakyat brings amendments to the Prevention of Crime Act (“PCA”) 1959.
Provisions on detention without trial, clearly violates the fundamental human rights values enshrined in the countries Federal Constitution and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).
