No ‘Happy CNY’ for MCA from Ismail
MCA Youth: Let the folk judge Ismail’s ‘regret’
David Dass: Agriculture Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said it was not an apology. He did not regret making the Facebook statement against Chinese traders. He only regretted the fact that it created tension among the races. What does that mean?
And MCA Youth chief Chong Sin Woon said let the people decide. And the party president said let the matter rest. What does this mean?
It simply means that MCA was not able to get Ismail Sabri to retract his statement and apologise for what was clearly a racist statement.
LifeFlier: Regret – I didn’t admit that I am wrong, so I am still right, but I shouldn’t have said that even though I am right. In other words, I did nothing wrong, and I will hold on to my view, and I may regret to regret later.
Sorry and apology – I admit that I am wrong, so I am responsible for my words and deed, I repent and I swear not to repeat it because I honestly want to be a better person.
J Ng: Chong is talking rubbish. His statement reflects poorly on MCA’s clout in the cabinet. Indeed it makes no difference whether MCA is in or out of the cabinet when it comes to taking a stand against unfair treatment of minorities.
MCA must insist that the Umno top leadership reprimands Ismail Sabri for making such a racist statement. Calling on the people to judge Ismail Sabri’s regret shows MCA’s unworthiness as a Chinese party.
Mushiro: Instead of burying their heads like an ostrich, MCA leaders should put their feet down and demand that Prime Minister Najib Adbul Razak sacks Ismail Sabri.
What happens if another Umno man condemns the Chinese community wrongly again and refuses to apologise?
It is obvious that MCA leaders remain in BN for their personal perks and not to help the Chinese community.
If there are three levels of diplomatic language – namely apologise, sorry, and regret for leader who have erred – then there are also three levels of diplomatic language for their victims – namely, demand expulsion and punishment for the recalcitrant leader, reprimand and warn him or her, or just close one eye.
MCA has chosen the last option – close one eye.
Headhunter: Ismail Sabri is a recalcitrant. There is no point forcing him to apologise because, even if he does, it’s just to save his own skin and that will be insincere.
Let the public judge him for what he is and remember what he said the next time he seeks re-election.
B H Yap: Ismail Sabri thinks there is no need to apologise because the right-wingers in Umno are behind him and the PM has not said he was wrong.
Rupert16: This is typical of MCA – leaders walking away with the tail between their legs and without even a whimper each time their master, Umno, says ‘go away’.
Oh Ya?: The people’s verdict: Ismail is a confirmed racist, and so is Umno. Likewise, MCA is a confirmed lackey.
1MDB settles RM2bil loan in full
Wg321: If 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) executive director Arul Kanda refuses to bring back the balance of RM2 billion from Cayman Islands to Malaysia in order to pay 1MDB’s debts to Maybank, RHB and others before Feb 18, just say so. Be honest.
Don’t deceive the Malaysian public. He never settled the debt. He just borrowed from Ananda Krishnan a sum of RM2 billion to pay its debts.
You think that “chettiar” Ananda is so stupid to give RM2 billion without additional payments of higher interests and other hidden benefits?
Arul did not settle the debt. He just buys more time by borrowing from Ananda. The original debt of 1MDB is still there. 1MDB’s debt is just like transferring its debt from the first ‘Ah Long’ to the second ‘Ah Long’.
Sali Tambap: So 1MDB had settled the loan with money from billionaire T Ananda Krishnan. This is ‘hutang sekeliling pinggang’.
There will come a time when there is no more lender left to borrow from, then you have to sell your assets and then ‘gulung tikar’.
Hopefully, for 1MDB, some of their investments will start to generate income so that it will not end as another sham.
Caripasal: The debts should have been settled long ago. Ananda is not helping 1MDB but helping himself.
He should be forced to pay to Maybank and RHB under the agreement with Usaha Tegas, instead of giving the loan to 1MDB. He now gets to buy the shares dirt cheap. He is killing two birds with one stone.
Rupert16: The loan is not settled by 1MDB but by someone else. If anything, 1MDB is only digging a bigger hole by borrowing from Peter to pay Paul.
