PAS buried itself with hudud bill
Key changes in Kelantan syariah enactment
Anonymous#007: Why the need for the clause that removes the right of people of other faiths from choosing to be tried under another justice system, when PAS has said the law would only apply to Muslims?
What is the hudud punishment for lying, deceit, oppression and corruption? If they are unable to successfully prosecute PAS leaders for lying and deceit, then this enactment is inefficient.
Anon1: “People who are least affected by the hudud law are the ones protesting”?
Is this in French then? – “The first key difference between the new bill and the original enactment involves the repeal of a clause which provides non-Muslims an option to be tried, according to the syariah law or civil law.”
We are going to see a lot of folks relocating from Kelantan.
Casey919: While the majority of the world is trying to repeal the death sentence and replace it with a life sentence, we are turning back to the 12th century. If this happens, Malaysian women will be greatly affected.
YM Lee: Since the law does not apply to non-Muslims, then to be properly implemented, we must establish another prisons and police department, etc. Other states will have to follow lest they are seen as less impeccable adherents.
More questions will be raised when transgressions involve both Muslims and non-Muslims, the Muslims receive harsher punishment.
Let’s defend our national philosophy created following the May 13 calamity – the Rukun Negara. Malaysia has many more decent and sensible people over the few mad men. But we must be louder and more assertive.
Commentable: The implementation of hudud and its ramifications is like passing water as far as these religious bigots are concerned. They want it at all costs but without giving much thought to its after-effects when the law finally kicks in.
Will Kelantan be barricading itself from the rest of the peninsula states or will other states develop a penchant for hudud too?
Aabbccdd: Just curious – if civil servants are found to have stolen money from public, does the hudud law apply?
Cantabrigian: It’s funny to see that the people who are least affected by hudud law are the ones protesting against it. I don’t see any harm in imposing harsh punishment on serious crime offenders.
The harsher the penalty, the safer all of us would be. As for the accused, it would even be better because the burden of proof is higher.
Ray-G: It’s good that they are implementing hudud. It was last implemented in Terengganu and now PAS is gone from the state. They tried lame rules in Kedah and also ended up losing it.
I can’t wait to see BN taking over Kelantan. I don’t care about hudud as long they don’t implement it on non-Muslims. Keep the law to yourselves.
Maplesyrup: Umno may be corrupt, but they are smarter than PAS. Hudud is the death knell for PAS, but its president Abdul Hadi Awang and his gang do not seem to care – they don’t mind being the giant in the kingdom of dwarfs.
People of Kelantan, what are you waiting for? Do you want to be subjects of such idiots?
Proarte: “Kelantan’s special sitting on the amendments was yesterday officiated by Sultan Muhammad V, who expressed support for the implementation of hudud.” Is this really the case,Malaysiakini?
What the sultan did say was “May the bill succeed with support from all parties, God willing”. His approval was conditional on support from all parties and Allah. It was not unilateral support.
Mr KJ John: The bill cannot succeed, and this has nothing to do with the will of God. It has all to do with the fact that the so-called syariah advisers did not read or chose not to understand the Federal Constitution.
But, please do not blame God for your failure in thinking.
Anonymous_1395464675: Today marks the burying of PAS by Pakatan. Rest assured, Hadi and his party will only have Kelantan, with the sultan’s support.
Wish you all the best. Please get out of Pakatan as this will damage the opposition coalition.
Sleepy: Pakatan, get PAS out. I am willing to lose Selangor, principles are important. As they say, “actions speak louder than words”.
UMYES: I’m lost. If four people witness a rape and they fail to do anything to stop the act, are they not accessories to the crime?
Whatsup: Yes, it’s difficult to understand. Take for example, “if the offender had obtained legal rights to the previously stolen property before the judgment was made” – won’t this absolve the culprit if he manages somewhat to get legal rights regardless how he gets it?
Pardon the ignorance, but the best is still – you keep to yours, and we keep to ours.
Anonymous#007: I wonder if all Umno/Perkasa/Isma members are jumping for joy and rushing to pack up their bags to move to Kelantan to live their dream, finally.
