No Zahid, we disagree with Pota, says Suhakam

 Fair Play: Dear Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, you have been called a liar by the Human Rights Commission (Suhakam). With the full force of might behind you, what actions are you going to take?

Mushiro: Suhakam’s stand on the Prevention of Terrorism Act (Pota) is loud and clear and reassuring.

But the government has discarded Suhakam as a piece of decoration which is nice to have and to be used as and when it is seen fit. Zahid’s claim that Suhakam gave their nod on Pota is one example.

Anonymous_4196 How many Suhakams are there in Malaysia? Indeed, I wonder which ‘Suhakam’ Zahid claimed gave Pota its seal of approval?

Appum: What level of confidence can the Umno-BN government expect from the people when time and again ministers are shown to lie? And this seems to be happening from top to bottom and from one issue to another.

What kind of a government of the people is this? Can the rakyat respect and accept such a government running the country and managing the country’s resources?

By any standard, this is obviously a failed government.

Lung: Zahid is not stupid. His words are intended for the mainstream media.

Suhakam’s rebuttal may never see the light of day in the mainstream media and hence his words are ‘truthful’ statements as far as readers of the mainstream media are concerned.

He will continue to lie with impunity.

Anonymous #19098644: The minister ought to be refered to the parliamentary rights and privileges committee for lying to the august body. Again and again, Umno ministers have been caught lying to the rakyat.

SteveOh: This despicable practice of ministers and police officers telling blatant lies is why Malaysia is in such an ugly mess. Don’t these people have any respect for anyone including themselves?

If it is not yet a crime in Malaysia for a minister or top cop to tell lies, then it is high time there be a law to punish those flagrant liars.

It seems ministers lie through their teeth without even batting an eyelid and despite being exposed, continue as it it’s business as usual to the next big lie.

Lying cannot be acceptable as a standard operating procedure for those in government. It is an affront, an insult and an abomination to God, king and country.

And the result of lying is the destruction of the moral authority of the government without which it has no credibility in governing and in upholding the rule of law.

Lying is a transgression no one for good governance should tolerate.

Yaa Lorrrr: Zahid gave an assurance that Pota would not be abused and no one with different opinions would be detained under this law.

So why must Suhakam argue?

Ipohcrite: Is it just me, or do you got the notion that our home minister comes across as an inveterate liar?

Don’t tell me his English is so bad that he fails to understand the import of Suhakam’s correspondence to him.

Jaycee: The word is ‘pathological’ – he is like a pathological liar.
