1MDB shaping up to be a Shakespearean play
IGP urged to freeze Jho Low’s foreign assets
RCZ: The inspector-general of police (IGP) only knows one thing and that is to tweet. Since when have the police done any real policing?
If I were given the heist of the century to be investigated, I would be thrilled to make my mark internationally in bringing the culprits to jail and to deal with international bodies in freezing assets and bring the allegedly missing money back to Malaysia.
I would be a hero. Not so our police force. They have only one agenda and we know what this is.
Vijay47: Frankly, I am starting to wonder whether this whole 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) thingy is a cunning Shakespearean play where while the world is a stage, we are the suckers.
The scenario is quite familiar when Umno is caught with its pants down, or at least with its hands in the till. Find a villain, the fatter the better and go to town on him.
Really, in an administration totally controlled by the Umno coterie, do you actually believe that a Chinaman can walk into Khazanah Nasional and coolly walk away with a few cool billions, give or take a dozen?
It’s all according to cue and in a short while, a new circus will come to town. A certain murder comes to mind. To be or not to be?
Baiyuensheng: During Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s time, a lot of the rakyat’s funds were also siphoned out from Malaysia.
Someone even took out a bagful of foreign currencies and was caught. Can anyone remember who that dude was?
Wira: There is a big difference between money siphoned out in the 1990s and today. During those days, they siphoned out money when we had a better economy and were not in severe debt. Today, their siphoning put us in heavy debt.
I believe those are reserves parked somewhere for some very important purposes for the ruling party. Otherwise, where could they get so much money to allegedly bribe people in the last general election (GE)?
Who paid the millions for Korean singer Psy to appear in Penang? Who paid for the nightly free food and beer? Who gave out cash to buy votes?
Donkey Kong: What evidence do we have against Jho Low? Does it meet the threshold for a Mareva injunction? We can’t go around freezing assets primarily on hearsay. Start investigations, yes. Freeze assets now, no.
Zappy-Zapzap: The task is horrendous. Will the IGP be up to it? This requires international liaison. Our IGP is only used to domestic issues, like sedition and controlling political speeches of opposition leaders.
For these, the IGP is most ‘efficient’, sparing no time to pounce on the alleged culprits. As the 1MDB involves the PM of the country, I doubt he’ll take any action in the near future.
AkuMelayuIslam: It is baffling why police have not yet questioned Jho Low, when the force had shown such efficiency when probing things like Twitter postings.
Vking: The police are waiting for the audit report on 1MDB to be completed, and based on the findingsm the police will take necessary actions on whoever has violated the law.
Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua need not teach the police what needs to be done.
Xed: Arrest, freeze his assets? A certain cabinet minister might issue a letter saying that Jho Low is not guilty of a criminal offence, and that he assists the government on matters of national security.
Nazir: Even my teen son can tell 1MDB bad news
Lee Hup: Najib has already asked that a thorough investigation be conducted to get to the bottom of the controversy surrounding the 1MDB.
That investigation has just commenced and it is still ongoing. Is it not better to wait for the result of this investigation before we attempt to come to any conclusion?
Darren_Liew: I enjoyed the series ‘The Band of Brothers’ – how these soldiers soldiered on and banded together to fight against the Nazis.
One of the touching scenes was when an American soldier, Buck watched in horror how a mortar assault had claimed Toye’s right leg and also destroyed one of Guarnere’s, his best friend.
The Razak siblings should do the same rather than attacking their eldest brother who happens to be the PM just because they don’t like his wife.
Blobfishface: The number of bluebottle flies hovering near the 1MDB carcass is a strongly indicative that there is some very dark sorcery behind the whole scam.
Those unaffected by the spell can see it for what it is – a dancing skeleton illusion.
But those who have fallen under the influence of the Wicked Witch’s magic will see a host of glorious angels leading the nation through the gilded gates of a plywood paradise.
