Najib lucky to have ‘super rich’ son-in-law

PM’s aide: Groom’s side paid for KLCC bash

yrsaysuperrich Roar For Truth: PM Najib Razak’s special officer Rizal Mansor should not keep Malaysians in suspense and critics from the truth. Now we know the KLCC wedding party is paid by the groom’s family.

He should also inform us that the PWTC event was paid by some Umno loyalist who admires the PM greatly, the event in Pekan by some Pekan businessmen who appreciates PM from turning them from traders to multimillionaires and the only payment the PM had to pay for was for the royal families who attended the function in Seri Perdana.

The event was so small that it cost only a few hundred dollars. Now that we know, can Malaysians all please apologise for wrongly accusing our PM. Tun (Dr Mahathir Mohamad), you need to apologise, too.

Tholu: How pathetic, Rizal, if the cost of the ostentatious event was truly borne by the groom’s side, why only say it after so many days since the highly controversial and explosive issue was raised?

Secondly, why are you, instead of PM Najib Razak saying it? Thirdly, we cannot believe that Najib and his wife, Rosmah Mansor, would have allowed themselves to be treated with such ignominy and indignity and accepted the sponsorship of the expenditures by their daughter’s in-laws.

They (the PM and his wife) are no ordinary people like you and me and would not have compromised on their self-esteem.

And Rizal (and prompters of your ‘revelations’ – Najib and Rosmah too), it is so foolishly presumptuous of you to think that, we, the rakyat, are so naive and can be so easily duped.

Abdul Kadir Jasin: Sadly, much of the “mysteries” concerning the PM’s non-government funding will not be known or harder to know with the recent demise of Jamaluddin Jarjis (JJ).

He was one of Mohd Najib’s point men (if not the point man) for political/social funding. I believe he had been in that capacity for a very long time, possibly from the time he was TNB (Tenaga Nasional Berhad) chairman. I had given the feedback on that matter to Mohd Najib when “we were still friends”.

It was well known that managers of Umno-linked companies reported to JJ. Some Umno-linked companies report directly to the PM instead of the Umno headquarters. JJ was also influential among the managers of GLCs (government-linked companies).

The opulence of the wedding beats even those of the royals and the richest people in the country. Compare that with the wedding of Najib’s son by his first wife and you get the true picture and colour.

Wg321: Najib is so lucky to have such a son-in-law. All expenses are paid by the groom – three days of celebration in Kazakhstan and one day celebration in Malaysia.

So Najib doesn’t have to pay a single sen. Where “got face” for Najib if the groom paid for everything, especially in Malaysia?

Odysseus: I can’t believe the prime minister of Malaysia didn’t pay for his own daughter’s wedding reception. Even if he is too poor, he can just voice out and I am sure the people of Malaysia will contribute to help him ‘save face’.

Since he has admitted the groom paid for the wedding in Kuala Lumpur, isn’t this ‘memalukan’ (shameful) for the Razak family?

Waile: “‘Even when someone wears a cheap dress, this person can make it look expensive. There was no wastage at all since most of the items were rented,’ said Rizal, declining to name the wedding planner.

“The PM’s special officer also stressed that the wedding planner went out of the way in organising the ceremony because it could help boost the person’s business profile.”

That sounds so illogical – want to boost the business profile but decline to name the wedding planner. Very clever.

Frankiepo: I’m delighted with this explanation. Now I can go and pay RM10 to my wedding planner and ask them to go all out for me, make it glittering and grand so that they can boast about it later and hopefully help with their business profiling.

JD Lovrenciear: Knowing Malaysians and their kindness of heart plus an inclination to magnanimity, a prime minister’s daughter’s wedding would have been proudly talked about by the rakyat.

But why, in this instance, the people are critical? That is the question that the PM and his office of paid servants should reflect upon.

Rosila Bakar: I was intrigued by the recent allegations of the expensive wedding of Najib’s daughter with Daniyar Kesikbayev (previously Daniyar Nazarbayev). It turns out his mother, Maira, was officially married in 2001 to Bolat Nazarbayev, brother of long-time Kazakhstan president Nursultan Nazarbayev.

They were divorced in 2009 and have a 14-year-old son too. Of course, ex-husband Bolat was super-rich and owned mining companies and banks and hence, Maira lived the life of a socialite.

She was very fond of jewels and apparently, one time she allegedly wire-transferred US$75 million to the jewellery company Jacob and Co.

ABS: It’s not about Najib not spending government money for a personal event. I think even he would not be so stupid to do so.

But it is the values/belief that he and wife have displayed/condoned which is so abjectly indecent given the state of the country and many of its peoples. Where is ‘leadership by example’?

Anonymous #32557251: It goes without saying that our government should not pay a single cent on someone’s wedding because such wedding is a personal matter.

However, being a public figure, everything must be transparent if he has nothing to hide and we “rakyat” have every right to know.

NNFC: The Malaysiakini report said that the wedding in KL was paid by the bridegroom’s parents. In KL, the guests were mainly PM’s invitees. So, it looks pretty generous and unusual of the parents of the bridegroom.

Sabahan: Since millions of ringgit has been spent, maybe Najib can prove conclusively that groom’s side paid for it by showing the bank documents pertaining to the transfer of the huge sum of money from Kazakhstan to Malaysia.

Hmmmmmmmm: So where does this groom get his money from? Pretty much the same way as our beloved PM?
