RM2.6b pot calling RM100m kettle black
Disappointed with RM100m graft case, PM vows tough action
Slumdog: Platitudes and banalities from someone who swiped RM2.6 billion plus RM42 million plus using corporate credit cards where he allegedly racked up hundreds of thousands of ringgit on high living, now he has the gall to express disappointment that a bunch of corrupt civil servants misappropriated RM100 million.
We are yet again told that there will be another independent panel set up to investigate the matter. Malaysians know by now that there is no such thing as an independent panel in this country.
Independent panels and task forces have a long history of sweeping all corruption cases under Umno’s very large carpet and cupboard where many skeletons lie.
Since this has been happening over a number of years, the obvious question is what has the auditor-general, in his annual reviews, and the hierarchy within the Youth and Sports Ministry been doing?
Bluemountains: Yes, we are also disappointed because PM Najib Razak has not brought to book the person/persons who misappropriated public funds by transferring more than RM42 million from SRC International into his bank accounts without his knowledge.
Is Najib going to ask the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to go after the culprits?
SultanMydin: Corruption and mismanagement of up to RM100 million since 2010 by a syndicate in a ministry?
Has the minister, KSU (ministry’s secretary-general) and fellow officers been sleeping? How sure that the same is not happening in other ministries?
Congratulations to MACC for exposing corruption among officers who are supposed to be Muslims. This is a disgrace to Malays and Islam.
Courses on integrity have been implemented, endless religious education given throughout the years, anti-corruption posters and notice abound everywhere… yet there are still those who want to get rich quick illegally.
Anonymous 2163411434406314: Are you serious, Mr Prime Minister? You, of all people, talking about the debilitating effects of corruption?
You’re surrounding yourself with like-minded people with zero integrity, what do you expect? Are you telling them that receiving unsolicited donation is your exclusive right?
Nobody with a right frame of mind will give a damn about what you have to say. Don’t expect people to change their perception of you by such empty talk.
You’re not credible at all. What a hypocrite.
360: Only disappointed? How come not appalled and incensed like the rest of us!
I suppose if one is used to dealing in billions, RM100 million is peanuts. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.
RM100 million over six years meant about RM50,000 being siphoned a day. How come it took this long for this to surface?
CQ Muar: What fine display of showmanship by Najib. This is, in fact, an opportunity for him to billow out his anger against those from the Youth and Sports Ministry for such dishonesty, and promising firm action against the culprits.
This brings to mind the RM250 million Cowgate. Did Najib protest against those involved in the scandal and vow disciplinary action?
The sad truth is this is just one of many cases in Malaysia. And it is absolutely rubbish that no one knew. Most likely, everyone knows, but no one does anything as perpetrators are well-connected and protected.
Speechless: Yes, I agree with the PM. Tough action must be taken against misappropriation of funds, including those unidentified billions in personal accounts.
Sans Prejudice: It is the same old platitude on “ministries and government agencies should always oversee their spending with the highest level of transparency and accountability.”
This cliché has become a big yawn. What has he done to remedy the annual auditor-general’s findings on the atrocious and hyper-inflated payments for goods and services rendered to the various ministries and also the wastage and thefts of assets?
The standard reply has been, “we are looking into it” and “we doing our best to prevent future occurrence”.
And Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin’s nonchalant dismissal that “the money was misappropriated in small amounts regularly over numerous years” does not exonerate him from negligence. In the corporate sector, he would have been fired.
Lukesky: As deplorable as this latest corruption scandal is, it’s like the pot calling the kettle black. Najib should lead from the top and must first be accountable for his RM2.6 billion scandal. Then he can express his disappointment over his government officers for being corrupt.
After all, the government officer in question was probably only taking “donations”, following in the footsteps of his esteemed leader.
RM2.6 Billion Turkey Haram: Look at how shameless he is. Condemning corruption and wanting those responsible arrested. Hey, Najib, what about the billions in your account?
So far, you have not been that bold in talking about it. Look at your face when the two Australian journalists asked you about your bank account. Please do not talk as of you are a saint when in fact your credibility and integrity is highly questionable.
Please have some sense of shame. No one would want to hear you talking about accountability, integrity, honesty and transparency knowing that you are not at all qualified to do so.
