YOURSAY | ‘The emperor has no clothes but to the corrupt, nakedness is not a crime.’

The cold facts of 1MDB are staring at us in the face

10 reasons why Najib is accountable on 1MDB

yrsaycoolfactsyoursay-EnglishSteveOh: An excellent article by P Gunasegaram. Saddam Hussein declared his innocence until the rope at the gallows choked out his last breath. But the world knows the truth.

Those who betray their nation with their wrongdoings and still conspire to cheat and lie their way out of trouble deserve our condemnation and the toughest punishments reserved for their ilk.

Never in the history of the country have so few robbed the country blind, which is the state of those who still think the man is innocent and advocate for him. The emperor has no clothes and that is the naked truth.

But to the corrupt, public nakedness is not a crime. Telling the emperor and the people he is naked is a crime, however. The emperor’s public nudity is an official secret.

We are supposed to swallow the lies hook, line and sinker? God forbid. The poem ‘First they came for’ is a poignant reminder that the people must be resolute in bringing the corrupt to justice.

There must be no holds barred until the corrupt go behind bars.

If this happened anywhere else in the world, any decent, self-respecting human being would have resigned a long, long time ago, let alone the chief executive of a sovereign nation.

And even if he refused to step down, the entire machinery of good governance and court of public opinion would have ensured his days as PM ended quickly. Just look at Iceland.

Sadly, as this person appears to have full control and dictates the levers of power at various strata of society and with such restrictive and oppressive laws, the Malaysian people are very afraid to show their unhappiness publicly.

But it is only a matter of time when the floodgates of despair, hunger, hopelessness and plain grief will burst forth and, God willing, he will flee and allow a new leadership to ‘clean up’ and start afresh. Hopefully, with not too much pain and suffering for all.

Anonymous_40f4: There are many companies using nearly similar names for criminal or illegal activities. They use company ABC to sign agreement with their client but the invoices for payment are cunningly sent from another company with nearly similar name ABC Limited.

So the cheque and money goes into ABC Limited which belongs to someone else, not the directors of ABC.

The same thing allegedly happened in Aabar PJS and Aabar PJS Limited. It was allegedly deliberately done by the criminal mastermind to allegedly steal RM6 billion of public money via 1MDB.

Aabar PJS is in the Middle East but Aabar PJS Limited is in the British Virgin Islands (BVI).

And where is the RM6 billion now?

Maplesyrup: We cannot be convinced that the money in Najib Abdul Razak’s personal bank accounts is from donations, as we first need to establish if the named donor has the ability to donate such a sum, even if he has such intention. Of course, his generosity, even if he has the ability, is highly questionable to begin with.

If according to The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reports, the money that went into the Ambank account has its origin in the accounts of Good Star and the Aabar Investment PJS Limited, then it is very difficult to convince right-thinking Malaysians that the money that found its way to Ambank is not connected to 1MDB.

Our actions come with consequences, and the PM should do the honourable thing and save Malaysia.

Roguekiller: Well, Gunasegaram, we Malaysians, though I can’t speak for all, but mostly, were suspicious at first but now we are certain of 1MDB’s evil ways of allegedly siphoning off billions of ringgit via this preconceived platform of 1MDB. My belief is reinforced by exposes of WSJ, Sarawak Report and ABC’s ‘Four Corners’.

Damning proofs are here and if 1MDB, especially Najib, found them untrue, no one had the guts to sue these media organisations for defamation. As none had initiated any form of counteraction, thus their revelations are deemed true and acknowledged by 1MDB and Najib.

Gunasegaram, as they’ve planned this strategy and have successfully implemented what they aimed for, whilst Bank Negara Malaysia and the bank involved did not raise impediments over the magnitude of the sums of money before their very eyes, it was a successful plan. Why should 1MDB rock their own boat?

Middle Path: What happened to the reports of money found in his bank accounts and the spending on his alleged shopping sprees using credit cards? Only a dead man would not think he’s guilty.

Fair Play: Yes, politically the top guy is dead man walking. Just be patient and wait for the international investigators and regulators to finally connect the money trail to the people (directly and indirectly involved) and we shall witness the grand finale.

Hang Babeuf: Najib cleared? Come off it! Has anybody in official position in Malaysia ever heard of, do they ever take seriously, the notion of ‘ministerial responsibility’?

Or is that just another Western prejudice, colonialist doctrine, part of the detritus of foreign domination?

Tmf: The saddest part of this tragi-comedy is that there are so many Umno-BN ministers coming out to defend the chief. Though we do not expect these beneficiaries of the corrupt regime to behave otherwise, it is still sad.

Kingfisher: A big concern for most ordinary people, in addition to their rage over the plunder of national resources by those in power, is an underlying dread arising from possible multiplier consequences of corrupt practices as empirically indicated in a research finding of rhesus monkeys some 50 years ago whereas the trained alpha male washes before eating the potatoes, much of the observant pack emulates its leaders.
