It’s not just one critic, Najib, but 53pct M’sians
Najib won’t quit over ‘one person’
Aries46: Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s alleged questionable/scandalous issues, the subjects of former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s onslaught, are not merely one person’s allegations but have been in the forefront of the public domain.
However Najib has turned a deaf ear typical of his autocratic emperorship, playing deaf and dumb, with the end justifying the means.
Whatever his rants now about not quitting on account of one person – it is this one person that has eventually made the difference and brought him down to reality, to account for the skeletons in his closet.
A desperate Najib resorted to scripted questions and answers on prime time TV and when that backfired, he tried a FAQ blog posting that Mahathir summed up for all as one that “didn’t answer anything”.
What is evident is that Najib is unable to give straight answers to some burning fundamental national issues in the public sphere, and he has resorted to his specialty – politicking. The rent-a-crowd road shows, supposedly defends his oft-touted claim that the people are with him. But are they?
Appum: Najib, yes of course you are not required to step down or resign because of one person, no matter who he is. But the point is, are you sure of this? You may be having rallies here and there with ‘manufactured by LKW attendances to show.
The best thing you can do now is to seek the real mandate of the people in order to prove the nation and “that” man wrong. Dissolve Parliament tomorrow, go for a new general election, go for a fresh mandate from the people. This will show proof to the people that you are not fantasising about your support.
Do you know fantasising is worse than dreaming? Don’t resign – seek a new mandate since you think the people are behind you. Would you dare do that?
PCIM: Mahathir is not the only one who is asking Najib to step down. Do an impartial survey, and I am convinced that an overwhelming majority wants him out. The scandals are too many and there are too many pertinent but unanswered questions.
Tailek: Excuse me Najib, it is not just one person demanding you step down – it is 53 percent of the voting population of Malaysia. So step down please, and quick.
Anonymous #574625: So many questions – no answers. This is bad politics.
Onyourtoes: My dear Najib, you are the prime minister of Malaysia, you are not the prime minister of Umno or Pekan. So it does not matter you have good support from Umno divisions or the people of Pekan. If you say you have “good support” from the people, you must subject yourself to the test.
Right now, your performances as premier and finance minister have been called into question. Right now, there are various quarters doubting your capability and ability to continue as the premier.
Mahathir is one person, but he is not an ordinary person. He is one with considerable influence and experience. All of you once worshipped him. So, at the very least, you must avail yourself to a motion of confidence in the Dewan Rakyat. That is the least you should do.
CQ Muar: Najib, despite those antics on stage addressing that paid audience there are loads of questions still unanswered. Such irresponsibility is unbecoming of a nation’s prime minister. Before you bring the nation down further, we urge you to prioritise your tasks – do the needful to gain confidence.
Needless to remind you that trust, respect and confidence must be earned, and certainly not through consistent lies. Therefore, stop blowing hot air in a cold environment, will you?
2Kali5: The proof of the pudding is in its eating. All those public relations moves are just window dressing. Stand down, get a fresh mandate and all, including that “one person”, will have to shut up.
Dont just talk: You are wrong,1Malaysia Premier Najib,it is not just one person who wants you to step down as but also 52 percent of popular vote in GE13.
Mahathir might be right that if you continue to hold-on to the post, come the 14th GE, the popular vote will remain the same or higher that is, if The Election Commission lives true to its responsibility, by having the delineation exercise drawn up right i.e. 52 percent of popular votes is the majority and not the 47 percent as seen during the 2013 general election.
However the question of succession comes into play, when we have to replace one tainted leader with another.
Saphire: Najib, I give up. From the market to coffee shops and ‘nasi kandar’ stores, Ah Kow, Awang, and Muniandy are criticising you for your poor leadership and mishandling of 1MDB, and all are praying that you step down.
Yet you claim to have the majority of support. For once, can you please come to your senses. Those few thousand supporters are not reflective of the majority. They are assembled to give you the false sense of support by your henchmen who have sold their principles for a fistful of dollars. Yes, Najib. Get real. You lost.
Jiminy Qrikert: Najib is the neatest premier ever that this country has ever had. No other premier had ever engaged pop stars to entertain the audience at his Chinese New Year appearances.
Najib got Gangnam style. He is the coolest premier ever. Under Najib, Malaysia achieved world-class tourism standards. People the world over come here to destress. Najib is the smartest premier ever. He managed to get PAS president Hadi Abdul Awang to break up Pakatan from within.
Najib is the bravest premier ever. With Mahathir killing him softly with his constant stream of questions, Najib remains resolute he will not step down. Najib is the No 1 premier for Malaysia. He is 1Msia, BR1M, 1MDB and in 1 mega-mother of a mess with a RM42 billion debt.
Najib is the best premier to help Pakatan Rakyat win GE14. Najib must not step down.
Anonymous_1421406986: The people who work closely with Najib are the cabinet ministers and leaders of BN parties. They have expressed confidence and support for Najib.
Will these people continue to favour Najib if he has been abusing his powers? Or do we see him as a dictator who gives no room to others? Let us wait for the outcome of the probes and audit by PAC and auditor general to know if Najib is guilty as accused. For if Najib falls, BN also falls.
In Malaysia issues turn explosive, if ignited by powerful hands.
We know that person. Let us ask why someone supported his appointment as premier, let Najib make all the “mistakes” and then pull him down. Does this not mean the person has a hidden agenda and his intentions are dishonorable?
Does he fear he will be exposed to a torturous legal action for his past failures? It is strange that of his ex- ministers, not one has come to his defense. Does that not raise an alarm? Think.
Basically: To this comment: “They have expressed confidence and support for Najib. But will these people continue to favour Najib if he has been abusing his powers?” The answer is yes – but only for as long as Najib is in power. Once that ends, they will rally behind whoever is next. Politicians 101.
Yes, it’s true, Najib is not alone – he had 47 percent of Malaysians behind him at the last count in 2013. How many of the 47 percent still remains today is another question. But yeah, that will add up to a huge majority for sure – in BN math.
Dalvik: Want to know whether it’s just one man’s call? Stop your solidarity rallies, and call for a snap election. Give all of us a chance to show the solidarity we have for you. Would you?
Imanust Nais Yalam: Najib reminds me of a situation in a playground where a naughty kid, who had been bullying other kids, throws a hissy fit when his father drags him home.
Fair Play: Of course he won’t quit on his own accord. But what about being booted out?
