YOURSAY ‘If that is the case, then what has Umno been doing all these years?’

Umno’s big lie – Malays poor because of others

Muhyiddin warns of unrest if bumis left out

yrsayumno'sbiglie Iiiizzzziiii: After more than 50 years in power, led by Umno, and they are still demanding for equal opportunities? If that is the case, then what has Umno been doing all these years?

So, to all the bumiputeras out there, you better wake up and take stock what is going on in this country.

The big lie propagated by Umno is slowly disappearing as more and more educated bumiputeras see through the veil of illusion put up by Umno.

A lie can only be exposed through the passage of time, and we are fortunate to be able to have the opportunity to witness the lie propagated by Umno being exposed on a daily basis.

A new era is on the horizon and I am pretty sure Umno is not a part of it.

Pemerhati: After independence in 1957, the native Malays were given special privileges which were to last for 15 years so that they could reach the same level of development as the other communities.

But that did not happen and instead after 15 years, the privileges morphed into apartheid-like discrimination against the non-Malays who have now effectively become second-class citizens and dhimmies.

They have to pay more to buy new houses, their children cannot get admission into tertiary institutions even if they have better results, and they cannot get employment in the public service and GLCs (government-linked companies) even when they are superior to the Malays in all areas.

In taxation, there is discrimination as the non-Malays. Unlike the Malays, they are not allowed to make deductions for the zakat-type of payments.

Instead of devising and implementing policies that are beneficial to all the poor, DPM Muhyiddin Yassin and Umno give everything a racial slant to impress the Malays so as to get their votes to continue to remain in power.

Restless: From my observation, Muhyiddin, apart from using issues of race and bumiputera privileges, there has not been any substantial contribution or any significant mark any one of us can recall you have made to change the political or economic landscape, or even to the lives of individuals in this country.

My most vivid recollection was of course, your statement of being Malay first, Malaysian second.

Anyway, Singapore after leaving federation of Malaya also started on the same footing as Malaysia, In fact worse as Singapore had no natural resources.

But just compare where Singapore is today in terms of economic status, education advancement, SGD (Singapore dollar), human development and resource, per capita income, etc.
From their pool of five million population, they have so far clinched 84 gold medals versus Malaysia, 64, from a pool of 28 million population. Does this not speak volumes? We are not fools.

Gunnerrun: Why still maintain this “caste-like” system where your own sons and daughters are discriminated in almost every area because of the colour of their skin?

There’s no country in the world that is still practising this. While it’s true there’s affirmative action implemented in certain countries, but it’s more towards helping the minority and disadvantaged.

We have to march forward like all other civilisations if we want to be on par with the best, whether in economy, education, innovation, sports, arts and others. All humans are born free, no one likes injustice and being treated as a second-class person.

Also the dependence on past ancient rituals in the country of origin of the world’s religions must be considered by taking into account the conditions that eventually contributed to the formulation of religious laws and practices.

If we do this, then every nation and race can come together, embrace one another’s differences and plant the ultimate seed for world peace.

Gaji Buta: DPM, having ‘poor’ people is simply natural statistical distribution. All countries have rich and poor, and the wealth distribution is in a bell curve form. So just accept it.

You cannot make everyone rich. Since Malays are majority, obviously they will have more ‘poor’ people. Having said that, many ‘poor’ Malays still have kampung land and houses, which rural non-Malays do not.

You are continuing to pursue an Umno-invented scenario that has no end, at expense of other races.

Another example – ASN gives around 8% returns, while property investment averages around 6-7%. So where is incentive to invest in properties? What is the logic in high quotas for bumis when most only interested in one house?

Anonymous_1372741039: Racists remarks did not originate from the ground, but from those in the seat of powers.

The majority of rakyat realise the innuendos constantly articulated, including ‘the why fors’ and ‘whatever fors’

The rakyat, after nearly 60 years of independence, cannot be fooled any longer. Surely, after such extensive period of time, the powers-that-be would have structured a concrete and corrective action plan to uplift the less fortunate bumis.

If Malays left out, it’s because of Umno
