YOURSAY | ‘Why should they help MCA reform itself when it is irrelevant to the community?’

‘The Chinese community is smarter than MCA’

Give us your full support, Liow urges Chinese community

yrsaychinesecommunityAnonymous #19098644: MCA chief Liow Tiong Lai is still living in cloud cuckoo land.

When the MCA pulled out of the government for nine months, the Chinese community was not the least affected, nor did anybody care. Only the self-serving MCA politicians were badly affected.

Led by Liow himself, they then proceeded to eat humble pie and quietly slinked back into the BN government. Again no one in the Chinese community has noted any impact on the welfare of the community.

Why should the community help MCA reform itself when it is irrelevant to the community?

Res Ipsa: Liow, before you canvas for support from the Chinese community, maybe you should first gauge your own level of support within MCA.

If you can’t even get unanimous support from your own party, why bother rallying for support from the Chinese community?

By the way, you can take it that the Chinese have given up on MCA when it continues to be aligned to a scandalous PM.

Franco: Indeed, how to support you or MCA when there has been no official stand on the scandals involving the PM.

The non-committal stand taken by the party only shows that you are in cahoots with the PM.

Ex-Wfw: Liow, I would understand your predicament of having to go along with the current situation, but the community is smarter than most Malaysian politicians.

Can you sincerely conclude that MCA is doing its best at the moment? Its behaviour could hardly be distinguished from all the other BN partners.

So even if MCA is given a job, if you wanted to, you would have it done in a manner that shows transparency but no, you did it exactly the way BN does it, or rather Umno does it.

And that is the problem. If you can’t understand this, then how can you say you and your colleagues represent the community?

CQ Muar: You are calling on the Chinese to support MCA in order that you can all be elevated and enrich yourselves?

The Chinese community had been taken for a ride for around five decades, and it resulted in more suffering under the ruling government led by a string of corrupted leaders, and now Najib.

Enough of those promises you just mentioned. You couldn’t even voice out against those wrongdoings committed by your boss or protest insults often hurled against Chinese by those Umno bullies.

Liow, just indicate your stand over the 1MDB scandal where billions were allegedly siphoned from the rakyat. Also, why didn’t MCA investigate the death of Teoh Beng Hock?

Not to forget, the imposition of the Goods and Services Tax (GST), Chinese being labelled as ‘pendatang’, and the bullying by Umno hooligans in Petaling Street?

These are only a few incidents where Chinese were belittled, but the so-called representatives for the Chinese community went hiding in the comfort of their cosy homes.

Anonyxyz: Two thousand plus dinosaurs believing that hypocrites are heroes.

To refresh the memory of those youngsters among them who are strong supporters of Chinese education, please google Merdeka University and find out how MCA voted during Parliament when debating the issue.

Do you know MCA voted against a motion to set up a private university for Chinese education?

Tunku Abdul Rahman (TAR) College was set up as a political decision to appease the angry Chinese voters and at that time it was just a college. It only become Utar (University Tunku Abdul Rahman) when other private universities were allowed to be set up.

When the first cabinet was formed after Merdeka, MCA has three out of 10 ministers – all powerful portfolios.

See what the party has become after so many decades. Do you still believe a group of Umno cronies can protect our rights?

Old Timer: The Chinese had in the past given a lot of support to MCA, but MCA did not look after the interest of the Chinese nor spoke on their behalf even when their rights were slowly removed and when they were insulted.

Liow, why do you think you can do better or braver then the MCA presidents before you? You are the most timid MCA chief I know.

Anonymous #95676433: Liow, you and all BN leaders should accept that racial politics has failed to take Malaysia forward after 50 years of self-rule.

It is time to see ourselves as one nation, irrespective of race, and formulate policies to benefit all races and for the government to treat all races equally.

Together, let us work together and catch up with Singapore, etc. It’s the only way. Race-based parties should be banned.

Iiiizzzziiii: Yes, lend MCA your undivided support by eradicating MCA from the Malaysia political landscape as it has outlived its usefulness.

Let other new parties take over MCA role as this country needs a fresh wind of change to become great again.
